HC Zlin has found a new main sponsor, PSG, a construction firm, and will from next season officially be named PSG Zlin - the club's logo will be changed slightly. To add to the confusion, the youth team will still be called RI Okna Zlin since the club still has a partnership with the old sponsor (RI Okna). The Zlin region has been hard hit by the financial crises and the management of HC Zlin litteraly felt they had won the lottery when they found a new sponsor. PSG, the sponsor, has high ambitions for HC Zlin and hopes the club will reach the semifinals next season.

Earlier this week, it was also announced that HC Zlin will cooperate with their former rivals of Vsetin. In the future, Vsetin will thus be a farm team of HC Zlin. The immediate problem is that Vsetin currently only plays in the Czech 2. Liga (third tier), but Zlin will make efforts to get Vsetin promoted to the 1. liga so that the club has the same status as the other farm teams of the Extraliga. For starters, Zlin will send at least 8 players down to Vsetin.
