International Hockey.net − 21.10.09 Thoresen's first hattrick

Norwegian striker Patrick Thoresen scored his first KHL hattrick on route to Salavat's 6-1 victory over Vityaz Chekhov. Thoresen was the eight player to score a hattrick in the KHL this season. Chris Simon is still serving his three-day suspension. Vityaz furthermore missed Darcy Verot, and without these players, the team was no match for Salavat. With the loss, Vityaz extended its losing streak to six games. Salavat has picked up points in the latest 7 games.

Spartak Moscow created one of the major upsets in the playoffs by quickly eliminating SKA in the 1/8 finals. Today, SKA skated to a 5-3 victory after a commanding 4-1 lead after the first period. Spartak is slowingly moving down the table of the Western Conference and the team is still without a point in five games against other Bobrov division teams.

CSKA Moscow is experiencing a slump. Today, the team suffered its third defeat straight, all on its trip to the Chernyshev division. Finnish goaltender, Karri Rämö earned his first shutout for Avangard.

Atlant Mytischy was without its starting goaltender, Martin Gerber in the key Tarasov division game vs Lokomotiv. Gerber was suspended 1 game after his recent fight with Vityaz's Darcy Verot. Substitute, Aleksei Egorov played reliable in a tight fight which Lokomotiv won 4-2.
