6th straight for Energija Elektrenai
Surprise, surprise, Energija Elektrenai won the Lithuanian ice hockey championship again

Lithuanian Championships
2003-2009 Energija Elektrenai
2002: Garsu Pasaulis Vilnius
2001: Energija Elektrenai
2000: Viltis Elektrenai
1992-1999 Energija Elektrenai

Energija Elektrenai retained its firm grip of the Lithuanian Ice hockey championship even though its participation in the domestic league is of secondary nature to its participation in the Latvian Open League.

Energija skated to a perfect 12-0-0 record, outscoring its opponents 102:33 -- nearly ten goals for per game. The 2008-09 Lithuanian championship saw the participation of Pioner Kaliningrad and thus a Russian team. Pioner only tallied one victory in the 12 games series, a 3-2 shootout win over Poseidonas Elektrenai. Sporto Centras Elektrenai won all its games vs Pioner (one in OT), but only managed one (OT) win in 4 games vs the silver medallist, Poseidonas Elektrenai. Sporto Centras basically played with a junior team in the championship.
