Kazakhstan kept their perfect record in a one-sided Division 1 encounter.
The top seed versus the bottom seed and the game lived up to that billing. Outshot 28-0 during those twenty minutes alone, Kazakhstan followed a predictable game plan; kill the game early and take the rest of the game easy to avoid picking up unnecessary injuries prior to what is now the gold medal game after Slovenia's win earlier in the day.

For Australia, it was a familiar netminding story. Start with the netminder who came on midway during the previous game and replace them after the first twenty minutes. However, to be fair to Matt Ezzy, by the time he was replaced, he had already made 25 saves.
But those 5 first period goals had killed the game and Kazakhstan simply turned on the style, Krasnoslobotsev and Belyayev both scoring hattricks and continuing their form that has made them stand-out players in this tournament.
For Australia, it was simply about trying to avoid the goose egg. When Villani finally avoided that awkward status, the joy was clear to see on the Australia bench, but Kazakhstan had already moved their tally onto 8 by then.
Upton scored another, but Kazakhstan skated to 13 counters without really breaking sweat. Coach McKenna needs to ensure heads are now kept up ahead of the vital relegation decider with Croatia.
