Since the club owners don't want to support the club's operation financially on the earlier level, Vasas HC will not play in the next season (at least not on senior level). It might happen that Budapest Stars will have a partly senuor, partly junior team, but it's also not sure.

The owners of the Jégpalota (former Astra Zeneca or Ice Center), who are the same investors as those for the Vasas HC, also plan to convert the facility to a multi-purpose event hall. They plan to make ice on the center rink only seldom. My personal opinion is that as an event venue they won't be successful since the Arena is some 20kms from the city center, and the interior is specially designed for the needs of an ice arena.

Anyway, the players of the former Vasas HC are free now, and some of them have already found a new club.

The location is close to the centre for an ice rink, but too far to be successful as a multi purpose venue, a tot of which are drectly downtown...
They will go bankrupt and then they close it completely. Financially they were much better off with a good senior team and 1500-2000 spectators once or twice a week. Crying shame.:c165:

Indeed. :c165:
I guess I won't see much Hockey this year... I find it hard to support FTC or UTE... No, rather impossible.

Even as an UTE fan, this is bad news, because I just think it's a backwards step for Hungarian hockey in general.

It´s better for a club to own it´s own arena even if it´s small ( ex 500) but i guess not realistic and economical feasible in hungarian hockey at present time unless some rich expat hockey craze hungarian goes in...

Vasas and Ice Center was owned by the same group of investors.

At this point I'd hope to see some of the Vasas players move to UTE and help reinforce that club... they were so weak last year and need a little bit of infusion to be competitive this season.
DAB looking at icing two teams (AUT Nationalliga and MOL/OB1) should be able to have a pair of strong squads if they can pull a few more top players from Vasas as well.

There seems that there will be a Budapest Stars/ Budapest Stars-Vasas /Vasas team in OB1 at least!!! I can go to see live matches this season after all!

Today Partizan Beograd informed us that they were not able to overcome the problems with the Arena in Belgrade therefore they will not be able to play in the next edition of the hungarian-romanian international league.

If I understood it right the problem is that the Volleyball European Championships for Women will take place in the neighbouring Pionir Hall and the organisers needed the refrigerating capacity of the icerink for something (most probably for the air conditioning). Although Partizan was searching for an alternative solution (mobile compressors) and they were supported by the Serbian Federation and the Olympic Committee, they could not come to an agreement with the city who owns the Pionir Sports Complex.

I am disappointed, this is an indication of how important that each club has its own hall ... this year the volleyball problem, and what will happen next year - we'll see? (Kerusz, thanks for your help and effort) Bassa

So the Hungarian-Romanian international league will start with 8 or 9 teams in september.

After the deadline we got 9 applications. These are:

http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Hungary.gif Alba Volán farmteam (Székesfehérvár)
http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Hungary.gif DAB.Docler (Dunaújváros)
http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Hungary.gif Ferencvárosi TC (Budapest)
http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Hungary.gif Miskolci Jegesmedvék (Miskolc)
http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Hungary.gif Újpesti TE (Budapest)

http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Romania.gif Corona Fenestela Brasov (Brasov/Brassó)
http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Romania.gif HSC Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc/Csíkszereda)
http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Romania.gif Steaua Rangers (Bucharest)

http://www.internationalhockey.net/flags/flags_ani/Slovakia.gif HC Mikron Nové Zámky (Nové Zámky/Érsekújvár)

So, unfortunately no Vasas/Budapest Stars and no Partizan Beograd. I already wrote about the reasons of Partizan here (http://forums.internationalhockey.net/showpost.php?p=206508&postcount=14). Budapest Stars (Vasas) wanted to play in the HUngarian Chapionships only (without playing against the Romanian and other internatoional teams), but since the International League is part of the HUngarian Championships, this was not possible. The second reason for their absence is that Stars wanted to play with U18/U20 players. However, since this is a senior championships, teams are required to have senior players on their team entry list, which the club was not willing to fulfill. The Moldavian team Platina Chisinau, which won the Romanian U18 championships, was reported to be interested in playing in the international league, but it has never reached an official level.

All of the clubs have the approval from their national federations. However, while the participation of the Hungarian and Romanian teams are sure, Nové Zámky have a chance to play in the Slovakian 1. Liga. The team played last season in the 2. Liga and did not qualify for the 1. Liga, but they are negotiating to buy a license from a former 1. Liga team. If they manage to buy a 1. Liga license, they won't play in this league. But if they shall play in the Slovakian 2. Liga, they will also play in this competition paralelly. There is a deal between HC Nové Zámky and HC Zvolen, that Zvolen will support Nové Zámky with players from their wider roster (mostly with players who were the members of their U20 Extraliga bronze medal winner team).

Modus and everything else after the League meeting on 8th of July (I think we wil also know that time whether Nové Zámky will play in Slovakian 1. Liga or here).

Based on the team entries, in the different agegroups we will again have several (at least partially) foreign teams in the following season. Of course this is not the final list yet since foreign teams should be approved by the Board of the federation (except of the senior teams in the international league), and teams must accept the conditions of their participation.
