Eight teams will participate in the next edition of the International League. 5 comes from Hungary, 3 from Romania. From the participants of the last season, Vasas HC (Budapest Stars) can not start (they practically dissolved their senior team for - at least for me - unknown reasons), Partizan Belgrade could not solve the problem with their arena in Belgrade, and HC Nové Zámky could not answer until the final deadline.

Anyway, there are already some exciting signings so we can expect an interesting championships this season as well.

Yeah, disappointing that Partizan won't be taking part.

Maybe next year, if they can build an arena.

You are joking right ?

Partizan has arena, but this year there is some volleyball BS in Belgrade and because of that they can't install ice on time...

Even if there was no volley ball I do not think that they would be able to start on time. They even start the slo-hokej league quite late.

And while they do have an arena, that does not mean much. It is a wimpy arena that can seat only about 2000 er so. Lets aim high. It would be better to have a bigger arena. They have the money to build one. And they have space for it - on the old abandoned outdoor Tasmajdan stadium.

If they joined this season they would be the bottom of the barrel in MOL. :P

Well they speak of a renovation... http://www.danas.rs/danasrs/srbija/beograd/tasmajdan_ponovo_u_punom_sjaju.39.html?news_id=199 126

So best wait until we get something good. :) Then again maybe the renovation will be subpar. :/ At any rate, not much is lost by not having them this season.

+1

like always you're totally right.

Kiraly I was hoping to see Belgrade join the league this year. I hope they can make it next year. It would also be nice to see Debrecen develop a senior team for the MOL Liga.

I imagine Partizan being much weaker than the teams in MOL. Am I wrong? Perhaps my opinion of hockey in Hungary is too high.

If AV19 weren`t playing in EBEL, and its talent were spread among the MOL Liga squads, that would be one thing.
But you have to remember that many of the best Hungarians are playing either in the EBEL squad, or out-of-country in a few cases.
Add to that the fact that Partizan is but one team that rounds up pretty much the best players in Serbia, plus imports, and that there it would be competing against 5/6 other Hungarian clubs, and the playing field evens out pretty well.
Partizan likely wouldn`t win the league against teams like DAB and HSC, but they would without a doubt be quite competitive and to say they`d be a doormat team is just wrong.

Sijka have a Hungarian citizenship as well since the last season so he is a home player. Eliteprospects is not up to date in that regard.
