    SC Bern sues IIHF

Swiss club SC Bern is suing the IIHF for 1.2 million Swiss francs as compensation for the canceled 2009-10 Champions Hockey League season.

The sum seems very high, it consists of CHF 400,000 for prize money, CHF 600,000 for player investments for the CHL, plus interest.

I guess that with the cancellation, it was only a matter of time before one club or another would try to get some money back.
I would have actually thought it might have been the Dutch club that was to be involved, who had invested a LOT of money into trying to be competitive in the CL

Eisbären Berlin also want to get compensation from the IIHF:

I think the IIHF had contracts with the big leagues/teams. I don't really know, but it could be that the "minor" teams, such as the Dutch champion never had a contract with the IIHF and thus have no chance to claim any compensation.
