This was a really tough, well matched group.

Even Miercurea Ciuc played competitively for the most part.

I'm a bit surprised Asiago didn't pull off the group win.

Good to see that the top Danish & Italian teams can play with - and beat - Russian Vyshaya League teams (this one being Ukrainian, of course, but still playing in the Russian Vyshaya League).

Do you think that Miercurea Ciuc was outclassed here, or were they tired and/or the competition was stiff? It's still great that they did as well as they managed to do, so they should proud of themselves nonetheless

I'm pretty surprised SønderjyskE did so well. Even though they aren't as hard hit by the recession as the other teams in Denmark, I was still under the impression that the danish teams had declined relatively vs. the leagues they could be matched against a few years ago.

Seems like the other leagues must have declined in quality also.

Well, Sokil plays in BOL, not Vyshaya.

Ah, right - I forgot they had switched over from Vyshaya to the BOL.

My point remains though.......the BOL is just as good as the Vyshaya League - maybe even better. The BOL is basically on EBEL level........just outside of Europe's Top-7 leagues.

I'm glad to see that top Danish and Italian teams can still compete with - and even beat - teams of that caliber.
