Hmm, pretty tough one to call, I have liked the way the Finns have played all tournament long but I liked how Sweden played today. Still believe Vehanen is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe so, he steals the show, Finland wins.

Finland has played good but I just can't vote against Sweden...

Low scoring game, decided in over time. Patrik Berglund intercepts a pass at the Swedish blue line and puts the puck over Vehanen's catcher on to make it 3-2 Sweden.

Edit: What? I am the only one out of 15 to vote for Sweden... *sigh*

I have said the same thing for some time about statistics. But then again Sweden has 18 silver medals and 8 gold. So losing finals is actually something we're world champions at - statistically.

I think Sweden till take this one, Finland usually have a hard time against Sweden when it comes to Ice hockey, especielly when it comes to important games.

Well, I didn't say it would be this time...

The truth is that at this stage it's pretty much a 50-50 take. It's fairly obvious reading by this thread alone that people can't approach this from an objective viewpoint. It's standard behavior though, nothing wrong with that. Still, respect to those who can refrain from public homerism at a time like this.

What this thread does show though is that majority of people seem to think it's been long due for Finland. I've not been one to believe in fate or any kind of universal justice however, so I certainly can't use that as an argument either.

All I - as we all - can do right now is hope. And keep watching the game next year whatever happens Sunday evening.

I like and respect both teams, and I'm a neutral observer.

I do think Finland will take this one.......of course, looking at my prediction success rate this tournament, that means Sweden will win.

Pretty much the way i approach things these days, i have suffered my fair share of let downs and dissapointments in finals to be kind of Goes without saying that Suomi has long deserved a gold though.

6-1 !! HAHAHAHAHAA, im sorry but i have to laugh. 3-1 and they give up, way to represent the yellow and the blue. I really think the Cezchs were more worthy to play the final game, jesus. Finland more then deserved the gold. Much more.

Im really dissapointed at Sweden right now, They stopped playing after 3-1. Sweden went from a noble loss in a world championship final to a fucking embarasment in 6 min.

I feel sorry for the Swedish goalkeeper Viktor Fasth too that had a really hard career with injuries etc and when he finally blooms out and tons of nhl scouts are watching him his swedish comrades fucks him over, I would be very mad at the Swedish defenders if I were him.

Congrats to Suomi for this victory, complete deserved for gold. I'm also agree with Tyrfingr, that Czechs were more worthy to play in final, but unfortunatelly for them they have worst day of tournament in semifinal.

Very good tournament by Finns, only one lost (against Czechs), well deserved for gold.

The teamplay is outstanding and individual level of players is also excellent (I'd like to note Granlund and Vehanen).

Congratulations to FInland on a very well-deserved win.
So very disappointed to see Swedish players completely give up.
But in the end, it must feel pretty good for Finnish fans.
