Olten will be without Remo Meister (D) for game 4 because of suspension. After an offside, Meister complained to the officials and then shoved Blatter, receiving a match penalty.

The Discipline committee has added nine matches to the suspended Olten defender Remo Meister bringing his total to a 10-match ban. During Game 3 against Visp, Meister protested an off-side then with both hands grabbed the linesman. As well, he has been fined 500 swiss francs and will most likely be done for the year as Olten trails Visp 3-1.

Meister and Olten have 5 days to appeal the decision to the SIHF.

Does NLB get a lot of TV or other media coverage in Switzerland?

It seems to be very well attended, and the level of play is strong.....the better NLB teams aren't too far off of European Top-7 league standards from what I have watched.

I cant say just how much TV coverage the league gets but they do have two contracts, one of them is with Teleclub who lists their matches on their schedule. I would assume their coverage for the regular championship is not as much as the NLA gets on TV but some matches. There are countless new sources who list and give informations for the NLB just like they do for the NLA so I would say its covered very well in that aspect.

This afternoon in Vétroz, a press conference between HC Sierre-Anniviers and HC Red Ice Martigny-Verbier about the merger of their two clubs and discussing the economic future of the project who would have a budget of 2.5m CHF. The project will be submitted at the Annual General meeting on 20.March. In terms of sport, two rounds would be played in each clubs home stadium and eventually they would build a new one.

Really dont understand the project from a Red Ice point of view unless they feel they are going to fail at gaining promotion (heavy favourites to succeed.) They supposedly have the backing to get them all the way up to NLA so why merge with another club, it will be interesting to see what will come of this project if Red Ice does win 1.liga.

Swiss National TV spend very few time covering NLB... they'll show some quick highlights once in a while and they show results, but that's about it. Which is pretty sad.

Teleclub shows only selected NLB games... and I think other cable offers such as Swisscom TV does not show any at all...

That's actually quite a pity, since the level is pretty good and the whole championship is very interesting and concern teams the come mostly for totally different regions than the NLA ones (more or less)...

According to "Rhône FM" the merger between HC Sierre and HC RED ICE is not going to happen anymore, the proposed merger was removed from the general meeting and according to observes, was greeted by a burst of joy.

Silvio Caldelari will take over as President of the club and said they will have a budget of 2 million or less CHF for next season, the outgoing President Mr. Granziero, announced of loss of 144,000CHF.

Nothing new under Sierre's sun. Parochialisme is impeding a fusion with a rival
club. And the Valaisans will wait years until they will have a NLA team. If ever.

I dont think RedIce can make it to NLA ALONE why?:

The smallest NLA Budget is Biel's with 9mio.

Red Ice have now a budget of aprox. 2,5mio. The increase of the russian owner's
part would be so important, even if RI can find added local investment in case of
promo to NLA, that it would lead to total unbalance between investment and local
reality. I cannnot see Hockey Management pouring 8mio more to build a team in
Martigny. (Unless it is a cantonal one.)

    Why sould they do that.

There's no NLA Icerink, demography is low, potential fan basis is not much
expandable, north east is blocked by Lausanne HC, especially if assens to NLA,
East is Sion, a football town and also rival in 1st league hockey.

The move was clearly a RedIce move, they have interest in a broader aerea that is
why they called it VALAIS. From local to cantonal.

Sierre with this vote is condemned to mediocrity and will have to live in the
purgatory like Arosa, Villars.(maybe Ambri or Davos without Spengler Cup) I am
afraid RedIce too if they don't find new ideas to lead a cantonal project.

Basically everybody in Valais wants to keep its regional hockey and at the same
time would welcome a Team Valais in NLA. Asking for the imposssible.

What was more or less achieved in footbal with Sion and its academy could be
exemple for hockey. Although there were never really good football teams in that
    canton to compete with Sion.

We will see what will come out of this region in matter of idee and projects.
I am afraid not much. I hope I am wrong though. But we are talkin of a relatively
isolated big valley where local rivalry is strong in sport up to vine producing.
and these people are known for their stubborness and reluctance to changes.

about HOCKEY MANAGEMENT (70% in RedIce), the russian investors. They are now 3
years with RI, they have interest in clubs in Russia and Czech republic. which
    ones?

l mio every year is better than 10 mio at once, according to ANDREY NAZHEKIN a
russian/swiss and president of RedIce deputyboard, visible face of this russian
group. They affirme beeing interested in long terms and the money is here for
    puntual hockey problems.

So they dont look like the high flashing debts erasers and clubs savours
from the east.(Nobody wants an other Shagaev/Neuchatel-Xamax football experience.

This last element probably influenced the Sierre's GA vote.

The other name coming out is YOURI YEGOROV in Moscow. Don't know him.(piano
    player?)

Red ice said today that they dont renounce their project of RedIce VALAIS and
that they are open to new collaboration. They will concentrate right now on
    NLB promotion.

Wow, I never have thought that Langenthal could seriously challange Lausanne and now they lead it 3:2...doesn't really look like the NLB Austrians will get a shot at NLA now.

well, bit of a surprise shure, but its not over yet, AMBRI must be happy as LANGENTHAL probably will not want to play in NLA next saison.
