Czechs beat the US 3-2 in a shootout. Petr Koukal scored the only goal in the skills competition.

Well, at the risk of repeating myself....I really don't like shoot-outs. Tight game and I think CZE probably deserved the W. But 3 on 3 for 5 mins would have decided it in better fashion.

CAN-FIN has 9 total shots thru the first. Pretty much a snooze-fest. Hopefully some action to come. They were joking in the broadcast about Germany up 2-0 over Sweden in the first. Still very early of course.

CAN-FIN much more action in the 2nd but still 0-0. SWE-GER in the 3rd 0-2 !!!??? Still plenty of time though.

Germany stuns Sweden 4-3 in OT while Canada ekes out a 1-0 win over Finland.

EEEEeeeeee....wouldn't have ever picked this upset. Unless GER can pull another shocker, this gives CAN a relatively easy path to the final.

Poulin saved the day for Canada...now if Scrivens is healthy , do you leave him (Poulin) in the rest of the way ? (I say yes)

These two QF results remind me of Salt Lake in 2002.
Canada beat Finland 2-1 in a very tense match back then.
And of course, Sweden was upset by Belarus in one of the all time shockers.
I wouldn't put today's game on a par with that stunner but it might be in the top 10.

What year is this? 2010, 2014, or are we finally in 2018?

Excellent performance by the Germans, they did what they can do the best way and frustrated the Swedes. On leavig the ice Victor Fasth had to give his stick a special treatment for relief :D

Nevertheless I think the Germans can't beat Canada. Canadians have a game less in their legs and as the Germans' game is built on grinding this will play a role. Looking forward to a tight game though.

OAR up 2:0 vs the Czechs. Tuned in at the beginning of the 2nd, the Czechs seemed to make the game but the Russians scored the goals. Plenty of PPs for CZE as well but they just can't bury it. 9' to go, doesn't look as if the Czechs could turn it around.

Kind of tough loss for the Czechs, outshot the Russians and played fairly well...just not effective.
Looking forward to CAN-GER and how the Canadians are set to tackle the Germans' game.

Anyone know what the odds were for the Germans to reach the gold medal game before the tournament?
5' into the second Germany up 2:0...

4:3 to Germany, the Canadians rallied back but too little and foremost too late. GMG OAR vs. Germany, not to be expected beforehand.

If I were a betting man...

I'm broke anyway so it doesn't matter. But that surely would have made a lot of money.

Congratulations to Germany on a well played game and good luck for the gold against CFR. Hope the Germans can keep it going for 1 more game. Pretty much a disaster for Canada. Can't think of any positives to take from that game other than they avoid a bad spanking from the Russians. Bad Olympics for Canada, losing the woman's final and getting bounced out here. There was a question if there was enough talent outside the NHL to be a serious gold medal contender and I think that's been answered. Time to start drinking.

Yeah, that second period especially was disastrous.
We saw the real Canada...desperate and intense...in the third period but they could not draw even.
Up until today Canada was having a pretty good tournament.

    Sometimes you know, stuff happens.
    Remember Sweden-Belarus?
That Swedish team was full of top drawer NHLers and were cruising.
Belarus was 0-3 and looked worse than their record.
    And yet...
