I think so, since they've been around for only 3 years. Unless, there was a Maccabi Metula earlier to 2005.

Yes, it is their first title, and congratulations to Ben and the boys. They have built a really good club and their win is well deserved.

Hckeyguy25 - wow, I feel badly for you guys. 12 seconds away from the championship..........Bat Yam has had a bunch of second place finishes over the years, but I can't remember the last time the club won it all.....sometime in the 1990's? I feel badly for Gussin.

Here is a brief recap of each game from the Israeli federation site, along with a picture of Maccabi Metulla with the league cup (national team player Yoni (Evgeni) Kniter is featured in the picture slightly left of center).

Interesting to see Semyeon Yakubovitch is Maccabi's coach....he was the first ever coach of the national team back in the early 1990's.

I think they could pull out a win or two if they went.

It still stings...2nd place back in 2010, and not sure if a championship was ever won

If they have the roster that played in the championship (Korotin, Lebedev)
plus 1 or 2 add ons, this can happen.

Alex, their goalie, has experience in continental cup back in 2010 with Bat-Yam. Had a nice
performance as back-up, won MVP for Bat Yam for that game.

Here is the shootout from the championship game:

You will notice that Evgeni Gussin did not play net for Bat Yam.......Avihu Sorotzky did. He spent the season playing for HC Metulla, but transferred to Bat Yam right before the final stage / playoffs began.

Well, there are few reasons to start discussion yearly :
    1. New arena opens up in Holon (should start operate in August)
    2. Would be good to create some kind of draft for any new players (like myself, just came to Israel from Montreal)
    3. possibility to run "draft games" for new players in Holon/Metula. (Danny organized summer hockey, starting next week (12 Jul))

The rumor indicates that size is about 40/25 m. ,
it's enough to play very intense 3on3 hockey (or 4on4).
But yes, definitely smaller then Metula.

Sounds like something. But then again, I'll believe it when I'm skating on it.

Also, a team from Kiev just came to Israel for 2 friendly games. One against the Junior national team, which was 11-5 in favor of Lavri Kiev, and one game against Bat-Yam, which was 14-3 to Lavri Kiev.

Here's the roster from the season. Please note that some Bat-Yam Players did not play (Avishay Geller, Alex Litvak) and some other players around the league did play (Artem Korotin, who scored a goal, Harel Roush (sp?))

How many players actually engage in hockey in Israel?
Are they listed? Is there "on call" list?
Something like this (scroll down) http://www.mhl.ca/page.php?p=join.ph...e=Registration

The rosters for all the teams in the league is a start. I'd say 200 Ice Hockey Players?

The Israel teams stats in federation website makes no sense.
A lot of goals missing for all teams. Except for Maccabi Metulla Eggenbreggers who according to the standings table scored 61 goals, but its players are registered for 75!?

Here are all teams with number of goals according to standings, and in the () the number of goals that its players are registered for:

    HC Bat Yam 53 (45)
    Maccabi Metulla Eggenbreggers 61 (75)
    Hawks Haifa 44 (38)
    Monfort Maalot 64 (61)
    Devils Rishon-Le-Zion 51 (29)
    HC Metula 42 (31)
    Ice Time Herzelya 35 (29)
    HC Holon 12 (7)
    HC Afula 3 (0)
    Rishon - 2 10 (8)

So 14 goals too much on Maccabi and for the other teams a total of 66 goals are missing

200 - not bad. But, hey! We need "300" -:)

Is person, responsible of maintenance of federation's web site, member of this forum?

It's The best we have, and from looking at it, there are many duplicates, not sure where the extra stats come from for the players.
Speaking for Bat-Yam, the 53 goals forward is correct, for the season. 7 games 43 goals. and the 2 games which were forfeits = 5-0, and 5-0 making the total 53. Goals Against is correct
I think it's best to e-mail them directly:
