Sad to see Csorich in roster - he is slooooow... Other strange thing is our players from foreign teams are only on reserve list.

Croatia won't play on this tournament, Lithuania will take it's place. The reason is that players are tired with high tempo of play in EBEL, Slohokej and Croatian championship. Instead of play, they will use international break for rest.

Lithuania will also not compete due to the short notice. So it seems it will either be a 3-team tournament or a Polish club team will play as the 4th team. If it's a 3-team tournament, I'd expect the schedule to change to give Poland matches on the first and last days with the Netherlands v Romania match in the middle.

The Polish federation tried to get a club team to participate, but to no avail. It will be a three team tournament.

The dutch team has suffered from a long long list of absentees.

Most notable: Defencemen Nick de Jong, Bjorn Willemse, Marcel Bruinsma, Erik Tummers, Casey Vanschagen and Jordy van Oorschot.
Jamie Visser (who originally is a forward) is now the most experienced D. Michael van Rijswijk just turned twenty, while Overweg, Van Hoorn, Mens and Vink are all of 19 years old.

Forwards missing (among others): Bob Teunissen, Lars van Sloun, Matt Korthuis, Akim Ramoul, Peter van Biezen, Raphael Joly and Jason Visser.

What about a guy like Michael Brandasu a big solid D, I mean he plays at a lot higher level, than these guys from the North Sea Cup, even if he's not a star for his club in Norway like I assume these players playing for dutch teams are for their clubs.

  11. #11
I'm sure Brandasu will be on the team for the upcoming World Championship, just like Jamie Schaafsma and Mike Dalhuisen, for instance. But since these guys are playing abroad, I think the logistics are getting in the way for this EIHC-tournament.

I wonder why Poland is even playing these teams? It would seem clear to me that Poland is one step higher in hockey hierarchy, isn't it? Or has Polish hockey declined so fast? Doesn't seem like that judging by the results.

It is obvious that Poland has made a mistake when they decided to play against these teams. But maybe they cant find any other good team for games, and maybe just Romania and Holland where available..This is challenge tour, who knows when they picks the oponents and what is the criterium?

I supose that it will be the same if Poland was playing against Belarus, Russia B

No updates from Netherlands-Romania which should have started half a hour ago, is there more problems in this tournament or just no live updates online?
