    Ukrainian Berkut vs NLA teams

    First game:

    Fribourg-Gottéron - Berkut 3:3

I think surprisingly good result for Berkut team (currently in the middle of table of ukrainian championship PHL). It seems ukrainian PHL is developing very fast...

Where did you get this info ? I have absolutely not heard about this... when did it happen ?

According to Fribourg site, they have few days of rest in our lovely mountains...

    Just being curious...

That could very well mean that Fribourg roster wasn't the one they ice in the league.

Berkut - ZSC Lions 0:1 after 1st period. It seems ZSC is playing practically with best roster.

    Berkut - ZSC Lions 0:4 (0:1, 0:0, 0:3)
    0:1 - 12.33 Bärtschi (Ķēniņš)
    0:2 - 44.14 Bühler (Geering)
    0:3 - 46.26 Bärtschi(2) (Ķēniņš)
    0:4 - 53.29 Bühler(2) (Schommer)
    PIM: 5x2 - 3x2 Att: 97

ZSC dressed a pretty decent roster, 17 players total, all but 3 of them belong to them full time, in the defender from GCK, their starting goalkeeper from Elite Junior B and backup from NLB. They did leave 17 regulars undressed, including the likes of Camperchioli, Baltisberger, Ulmann, Blindenbacher, Ambühl and Sulander. But who needs them when you have Bärtschi, Bühler and Ķēniņš?

Blindenbacher,Seger and Ambühl are in a trip with the Swiss National Team , yesterday vs Slovenia (2-1 win in SO) ,today in Austria where tomorrow the SNT challenges Austria,Slovakia and Belarus for the Austrian Cup.
Baltisberger,Meili and Wolf , all three GKLions (ZSC Lions Farmteam) are in Davos (U20SwissNat.Team Pre.Camp.).

I never would have heard of this in a million years if not for this forum......very, very interesting!

    Thank you, JankS!

Interesting to see Berkut compete so well against an NLA team using an "A-" roster.

Attendance: 97 ..... I would have thought it would be more interesting than that to see teams from out-of-country. *sigh*

    «Berkut» - «Langnau Tigers» 8:4

Good performance again from Berkut. In interview club owner said they could even try to participate in European Trophy next year. As European Trophy is played on invitational bases I think it even might work out. Also he mentioned some European league ranking released by IIHF in spring this year where NLA is mentioned as 1st European league - haven' t heard anything about it.

Hard to take these results seriously as Ukrainian league is a joke... Probably these games didn't matter much to NLA teams, otherwise I'm also very surprised...

  18. #18
To be fair, Langnau is not a very strong team in the NLA... but it's hard to tell for me since I've never seen Berkut playing and I have no clue about the level of ukrainian teams anyway...

These games apparently didn't matter at all for teams and people in Switzerland, there hasn't been a single word about it anywhere...

Anyway, let's now concentrate on the 2 lasts rounds of regular season in 2011, shall we ? :P
