Well that was certainly the surprise result of the season so far. Impressive performance from Copenhagen to get their first regular time win of the season against title contender SønderjyskE.

And NHL'er Zach Smith celebrated his home debut with a goal and a win, while Odense fights to keep up with Herning at 4th in the standings. With SønderjyskE struggling in recent weeks the gap up to 3rd has now also been closed for both Herning and Odense.
SønderjyskE will try and bounce back with a win against 1st ranked Frederikshavn in the second game of the back-to-back schedule this weekend. While Esbjerg gets a visit from Odense, Herlev from Herning and Rødovre from Aalborg while Copenhagen gets a well deserved 10 day rest during the national team break when next round is played at the 18th of December.

Colin Greening defeats EfB Ishockey, that's how a NHL player should step up in the final period in an even game :D

He is tough to move when he decides to take place in front of the crease

Other than that it wasn't his best game. Many of the Pirates players seemed a little stiff in the movements. Maybe they have used the break to lift heavy weights. Who knows?

Dennis McCauleys' assault on Månsson in the first period was a disgrace to watch. Månsson was battling Tyler Mosienko (the game report on Hockeyligaen.dk says Nikiforuk but I am pretty sure it was Mosienko) for the puck at the boards. Månsson loses his stick and Mosienko pushes it away. Månsson reacts by pushing Mosienko a few times. Mosienko pushes back before both players decide to continue playing the game. When Månsson is reaching for his stick, McCauley comes over and starts throwing punches at Månsson who was ON HIS KNEES reaching for his stick.

I'll be ashamed of the disciplinary committee if they don't hand out at least a two game suspension to McCauley.

There wasn't TV on this game, and unfortunately Aalborg Pirates aren't among the clubs that usually publish their own highlights. I will post them here though if I find them along with highlights from the other games.

Highlights: Frederikshavn White Hawks - Copenhagen Hockey
Seems we finally got some secondary cameras to catch the goal action in replays. Not very exciting game this though, but a beautiful stick save by Bryan Hogan is included.

Well slightly less dramtical that I had envisioned from the discription of the "fight" I've heard. Obviously McCauley thorws his gloves which is something that we strike down hard on in the Danish league, but other than that, he gets a few punches in a guy that clearly does not want to fight. Some might say Månsson has been saving up for this all season, he reminds me of a certain player my team used to have until very recently, the way he agitates opponents with little things throughout a game.

Just a little ;) But weird that he wasn't able to find a steakhouse. I think he should have stayed for more than 6 games, and actually tried to look for it :)

That's a knock on the Jensen's Bøfhus corporation. Not finding it good enough to be called a steakhouse.

I like his comment: "The reffing is a bit different," he said with a laugh.

I must say that every time I go to the rink, I get concerned about the level of refereeing.

I dont really know what it is, might just be the simplicity of the jerseys, but I really like those Rødovre ones. Lūsiņš didnt seem like he had a good time when in Copenhagen, was he really that bad or just Copenhagen just really poor again?

Just a really low budget team with too little local talent to manage with a low budget. Rødovre are doing slightly better with what I would esitimate to be around the same budget, but they have a long history of great youth talent which is obviously good value for money.
Also from the few games I've seen with him...he is certainly no Muštukovs.

But yeah we're down to one Latvian guy in the league now ;-)

Thanks WHawks, pretty interesting two clubs with around the same budgets have such a large gap between each other. Yeah, Lūsiņš seems like he is going to bounce around the lower leagues for awhile before finally coming back to Latvia, not the biggest fan of his.

Haha good old Čubars, he dosnt seem to be having the best of season either but still getting those penalty minutes.

Either way, great work from you and Marras both, dont post much here but I always read it.

I think Copenhagen suffers from geographically being so close to Rødovre. They are only 6 km apart from the two rinks and I would guess that Rødovres youth program is so much more highly regarded compared to Copenhagen/Hvidovre.

When I started playing in Rødovre in the early 80's I was told that being 7 years old was a little to late to start and I could feel it also. Even though I was an early bloomer in terms of physics, the other kids outskated me all the time, simply because they had started when they were 4-5 years old or even before that. I held it up for a couple of years, but in the end I had to admit that they were right. Anyway, I ended up playing volleyball instead and apparently had a much larger talent for it, since I started on the national youth team as an 16 year old, but that is another story for another forum :)

That being said, there is 5 other clubs in a radius of 15 km within the greater Copenhagen area, that is fighting for a small talentmass. Small because there are so many other sports that have a higher appeal.

My hopes were that the NHL-lockout would last a bit longer, so we could get those extra 5 players along in the national side. If we could qualify for the olympics that could be the turning point for the youngsters turning to hockey instead of football, handball, badminton etc.

And even though Belarus is also now lacking the Kostitsyns, I fear that their roster is going to be much more complete than ours.

And more importantly, at least IMO, Mikhail Grabovski who always plays fantastic for Team Belarus.

I see from the Blue Fox recap that forward Markus Jensen, brother of Nicklas Jensen, got his elite debut for Herning tonight. Does anybody know if he's considered a big talent like his brother?

EDIT: I see that also d Sebastian Andersen, brother of Frederik Andersen (and son of old golie Ernst Andersen), got his debut tonight. Anybody know anything about him?

I didn't know that Markus was brother to Nicklas, thank you for the information.

Markus is a top 10 talent in his birth-year, but doesn't seem quite as talented as his brother. When Nicklas was at Markus age he was a profile in AL-Bank Ligaen and ended up being topscorer (goals) on his team that year. But Markus is still young, and is doing fine, so let's see how he ends up.
