Auld will be a dominant goalie in EBEL....he is a competent NHL backup even now.

In all honesty, he was shaky at the best of times this past season when he got in. At the worst he was awful. Granted that the team in front of him wasn't all that strong, Auld never inspired any sort of confidence either when he got in. Great guy, by all reports, but not an NHL goalie anymore.

Last season was rough for him, no doubt. But look at his numbers for the previous three seasons. Anyone can have an off year, and he's still only 31. In a worst case scenario, he's borderline NHL competent, and for an EBEL team, that's a home run.

He may have been shaky in the NHL, but he's going to be great in the EBEL

Like Turco did,ha ? Despite his numbers look solid to good in Red Bull, he was far from what is to be expected from long time NHL starter...

The EBEL preseason is getting into full steam now. Save for Dornbirn who will only start the on ice preparations today all teams of the league are already skating and the first games have been played.

Salzburg lost to Magnitogorsk 1:5, KAC lost to KHL side Nizhnekamsk 3:4 and then tied with Landshut (2:2). Innsbruck (surprisingly?) beat HC Ajoie (NLB) 3:0. The Vienna Capitals lost to Slovan Bratislava in OT (European Trophy).

Dornbirn is still busy with getting players on their team, they have a good 20 guys on ice for a try-out right now. Among those are as good as all potential Austrian EBEL players left without a contract so far (some of them have tried out in other clubs before).
Innsbruck also announced a try out candidate, French national team defenseman Antonin Manavian is considered as 8th import.

Did Olimpija Ljubljana send basically their junior aged players or a more young roster to go play against BK Mladá Boleslav? It just seems strange they didnt play that bad in Rudi Hiti tournament but are routed 6:1 both times by a 1.Liga club (yes, I know just relegated).

This was their roster yesterday: Boh (od 40. Kuhn) - Thomas, Ratchuk, Coulombe, Groznik, Magovac, Smirnov, Dervarić, Cvetek - Freeman, Dalvise, Mušić, Pance E., Ropret, Pance Ž., Ogranjenšek, Pesjak, Hočevar, Režek, Pogodin

Today: Kuhn (Boh) - Thomas, Ratchuk, Coulombe, Groznik, Magovac, Smirnov, Dervarić, Cvetek - Freeman, Dalvise, Mušić, Pance E., Ropret, Pance Ž., Ogranjenšek, Pesjak, Hočevar, Režek, Pogodin, Ferguson
