If Huet and the French can play the way they did against the Swiss and Belarus, they should be able to give the Slovaks a hard time in locking up that final spot but in the end I dont see the Slovaks falling victims to the upset.

Honestly, I feel that it's going to be a great slate of games. I also feel that the scores might be a lot closer than expected.

I´ve got a bad feeling about this. Luckily I´ve shed all my tears over the past few years, so I´m probably just gonna die from laughter when it doesn´t work out.

    4-1 Canada after two periods...
It used to be a common complaint about Canadian teams 'gooning it up' when they come to the Worlds
but in this game it is Belarus taking a series of unnecessary and undisciplined penalties which effectively
took them out of this hockey game.

RE: gooning it up....didn't see it -- what are the 5 + 20 for Schenn & Methot ? I'm guessing they got fed up with some stickwork and relaliated ???
Do they both now sit a game ?

Schenn just shoved a guy from behind into the boards...the Belarus player was shook up but I think he was ok.
It didn't seem as bad on the replay...he might avoid suspension.
Mehot made a stupid play with just a few seconds to go in the game.
He went to check a player and wound up mashing his face into the glass/dasher...the player got badly cut
by his own visor and was bleeding profusely.
Mehot, I'm afraid, will definitely get suspended.
But in either case I don't believe retaliation was a factor...just poor decision making.

Hmm, i think we have seen some bad calls today. First in the game Denmark - Norway and now again in France - Slovakia ........ a shame the games are not decided on the ice

I'll say poor decision making....last few minutes of a 5-1 game and we might lose two guys. This is a good example of why I don't like this new format. Canada's last 2 games going into the medal round held little suspense...and after the FIN-CAN game the 4 quarter slots were essentially established..not much suspense for anyone.

Damn, what a great match between France and Slovakia and I could only imagine how nerve racking it was for a Slovak. Your up 2:0, the French battle back, up 3:2, they tie it up late, up 4:3 and they respond again but finally the Slovaks got the lead and kept the lead though near the end the French almost responded again. Ohh well, come back next year and just build on this, two years now the French have gave the Swiss a run for their money (last year lost 1:0 in overtime) and beat Belarus both, good tournament for them.

    Germany....

Great tournament for France, they have nothing to be ashamed of.

As for our players...well...can´t say I was surprised....once again they came into the game either a) expecting that the French would beat themselves on their own or b) totally scared that they would have to be the favorites...

Luckily, it worked out and fort the first time in 5 years (not counting Vanouver and WJCs) we´re back in the QF. Now we can play as the underdogs, which suits us much better.

So jaaa, I know it may have been a tough win, but at least you guys got the QF berth, so congrats on that. Good luck for you all. Also, props to France for one heck of a tournament.
