Not to focus just on the one side, how come Andrei Kostitsyn is going to attend Panthers camp despite having a one year non-lockout contract with Traktor? NHL out clause in his KHL contract?

I know many of us here do not like the NHL, but a deal is a deal.

If the KHL wants the NHL to respect KHL contracts, then the KHL must respect NHL contracts.

The KHL should, the minute the new NHL CBA is actually signed, suspend Visnovsky, Kovalchuk, and any other NHL contracted player without pay from KHL participation if they refuse to go back to the NHL to fulfill their contract. The IIHF should do the same with respect to the Olympics and the World Championships.

Medvedev stating that NHL contracts signed prior to the new CBA being void is both amateurish and invalid.......he is well aware that the NHL Standard Players Contract contains language stating that it is subject to adjustment when a new CBA is signed.

If the KHL and IIHF refuse to enforce NHL contracts, they can't complain when the NHL starts engaging in full scale poaching without compensation.

This is a real test for the KHL...........the NHL has honored their mutual Memorandum of Understanding with respect to each others' contracts. It is time for the KHL to do the same.

Kostitsyn either has an out clause, or signed his Traktor deal while already subject to an NHL contract.

    Yup. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...racts/related/

edit/add: Marc, considering the circumstances, I think that the NHL lost its moral right to retain the players that it locked out, if those players do not want to play for the NHL anymore.

Do you have something supporting this statement? Otherwise, it´s just an assumption on your part, isn´t it? ;)

On a side note, the Toronto Maple Leafs have just fired General Manager Brian Burke.

Jaaa, I say that because the NHL would not allow him to report to the Panthers otherwise.

Since the NHL and KHL announced their 'informal' agreement, both sides have honored it.

Again, this is a real test for the KHL.

If they don't uphold the agreement, the NHL will respond in kind, and both sides will resort to player poaching.
