Initially it was planned that Denmark U20 would play, but they dropped out (replaced by Metalurgs) right after Danes lost to HK Riga at the WJCC. :D Obviously, only a coincidence.

Game times are just atrocious. I thought about going to Russia vs Latvia game but not at 12:30 on a week day. Maybe I'll go and see the opening game since that is the only one that starts at something close to normal hours.

I imagine that none. This team will be the same which will play in the MHL-B and not roster playing in Belarus.

Wait, so now Metalurgs is also playing in MHL-B along with Juniors and Prizma or are they replacing one of the two?

As of next season there will be three Latvian teams in the MHL-B. I have a better question, how did you manage to miss this announcement?

I dont understand, the same team( Metalurg Liepajas) will play two leagues(Belarus and MHL-B)?
It is not possible. How many players they have if they will be playing two leagues in the same time?

Not really. There will be a team playing in two leagues, but it will be Liepajas Metalurgs-2 (basically a junior team) which will play in Latvian league and MHL-B. The main team will still be playing in Belarus. Once (if) the main team gets knocked out of Belarussian extraleague some players will be sent to the second team to help in Latvian league playoffs (depending on the age it's possible that some first team players could be eligible to Russian juniors too, of course).

It was already quite successfully done by HK Juniors (Dinamo Riga second junior team) last season, the team played in Latvian league and MHL-B. The thing was that Juniors got to the second round of playoffs and towards the end of the season, they were unable to attend some Latvian league games, so they got a few automatic losses, but they still comfortably qualified for Latvian league playoffs.

I realize that I wrote quite a messy essay, but the bottom line is that playing in Latvian league and MHL-B simultanously is doable feet, it's hard if team is successful, but still. Here's how the player workload looked like last season, best players played around 70 games per season in the both leagues combined + some of them played part in our U18 NT as well.

I watched LAt-Bel game's last two periods and can say that Belarus won deservedly, Gavrus particularly was by far away the best player on the ice, only maybe Kuzmenkovs came something close to being as influential. Still encouraging that game was so close, despite us missing so many key players. I believe this was full strenght Belarussian U20.
