What's with Ireland, did Israelis really made official complain to the IIHF because of eligibility of some of their players. Someone mentioned it in other thread

Hi Prsljen, There's no eligibility issues with Ireland, two players are from the North of Ireland, but this is not a problem due to the NGB's Good Friday agreement. The matter is discussed in more detail in this thread on the Ireland section : http://forums.internationalhockey.ne...105-U18s-in-WC

I recall you posting under your other username, "Gazzw87" on an Irish thread calling for the entire Irish team to be suspended over an incident by two players in Croatia back in 2011. Do you have some problem with the Irish teams or something?

Yes, my old username. I did say that. Just my opinion on the old matter. Back to topic though. Yeah it includes Ireland, SA and Turkey too! Call it.. I dunno a 'cultural rivalry' or something :D

Im not totally 'anti-irish hockey' though. If the standings end up something like 1 Israel 2 SA 3 Ireland 4 Turkey I'd be more then happy if you beat the Turkish!

    Thanks gents.

While I obviously hope for an Israeli gold medal, I want to wish our Irish, South African and Turkish friends a good tournament.

Israel is off to a great start, leading Ireland 4-0 in the first period today.

Very concerned about the Israeli goaltending.....Israel leads Ireland 12-2 in the 3rd, but Amar has given up 2 goals on only 4 total shots against. Israel is outshooting the Irish something like 44-4 at the moment. What happens when they play teams of stronger caliber who can muster many more shots, and of better quality? Simply put, Amar needs to raise his level of play, and do so quickly.

Israel has 2 more excellent goalies on board. Quite a strange selection of primary goaltender, I think.

I agree with you partially. If the opponent is that weak, and you as a goalie get such a small amount of shots, you're just like a spectator, except that you are standing on the ice for 30+ minutes: you get cold, you freeze up, you get no game action, your temperature drops. So when you DO get a shot on goal, your reflexes are slower, your joints are frozen up.

Ofcourse I haven't seen the game, but if he gets more action during a game, his "operating temperature" will stay high enough and he'll be much quicker.

Umm... ukfan, Israel has been a regular U18 participant for a long time now.
And I doubt we'll ever see a regular U20 participation from Israel, with good reason, and I have no problem with that whatsoever.

Congrats to Felix and the Israeli kids on the gold medal.

2009 they were to play in Turkey, and pulled out due to security concerns.

2012 was again a safety/security issue for Israel, as the DivIIIB tournament was again slated to be played in Turkey.

Doesn't matter, they weren't regular participant. You can't say that someone is regular when they have U18 team but don't participate in WC, no matter what are their reasons for not playing.
