The qualification for HockeyAllsvenskan next season (2013/14) is just about to start.

Playoff 2 - The six Playoff 1 winners are joined with two runners-ups from AllEttan, Huddinge and Olofström, and play a best-of-three series.

    Enköping - Kiruna
    Piteå - Åker/Strängnäs
    Huddinge - Kallinge-Ronneby
    Olofström - Tranås

Playoff 3 - The four PO2 winners team up against the three AllEttan winners and the best runner-up in a best-of-three series. The pairings will be:

Björklöven, without a doubt. They have a strong following and has an average attendance of almost 3000 playing in div 1.

Vita Hästen and Sundsvall are also strong div 1 teams that are ready to try Allsvenskan.

Miss Björklöven so much in Allsvenskan. But do they have sufficient financial conditions for this league? Three years ago they were relegated due to financial reasons.

Yes, they very nearly went bankrupt. In fact they filed for bankruptcy but then appealed the court decision to grant them that before it won legal force. They have lived with a much smallre budget in division 1, and I believe they will fare well in Hockeyallsvenskan again.

And whats about players? Will they or most of them be able to perform well in Allsvenskan? Or massive squad changes will be required in case of promotion?

They could probably keep a core of players and add skilled players to build a strong team. Karlskrona who was promoted to this season tried playing with basically the same team, but they are dead last in Hockeyallsvenskan.

Strong audiences all round tonight. A total of more than 11,500 spectators in tonights four games. In the third division that is exceptional numbers.

It will be an interesting series this year.

Tingsryd and Karlskrona, coming from Hockeyallsvenskan, will be eager to defend their top spots and looking for revenge after a dismal season.

Björklöven has a strong team and a large following and has stated the last couple of years that Hockeyallsvenskan is their immediate goal. Vita Hästen also has stated that Hockeyallsvenskan is their goal for the season, but has not impressed quite as much as Björklöven and there are more question marks regarding their economy and organisation.

Huddinge has long been a talent factory in Stockholm and if they play their best they are definitely capable of winning against any team.

Piteå is the last team in and a bit of an outsider. They have taken the long route throught PO1, 2 and 3. However, they turned the series against Sundsvall around after losing their home game and have won 15 out of their 17 last games. I don't believe the team is strong enough to be a top contender, but like Huddinge they can win against any team on a good day.

Only expected wins in the first round, even if it was close in all arenas. Reports say that Vita Hästen looked stronger than Tingsryd but were unable to score. Huddinge held up well against Karlskrona and Piteå looked like they could steal a point or two from Björklöven.

Björklöven continues to look strong and demolished Karlskrona. Tingsryd looked like they were afraid to lose and consequently lost to Huddinge. Piteå was disappointed when they only won 2pts away against Vita Hästen.

I know this is slightly off-topic but didnt want to start a new thread... Bajen Fans Hockey have won promotion to Div 1 for next season. Interesting to see how they perform at a higher level. I think they will be in the same region as Nyköpings and, potentially, Huddinge. I dont know if they are likely to have the financial level of support to challenge for promotion to Allsvenskan next season? I think they've been averaging crowds of around 400 this season (apart from the 1-off game at Hovet when they got c.8000) so I'll be interested to see if they can increase that much next season or if they are planning to move arenas again?

Seems odd to think (when you consider the level they started at) that they will only be 1 league below Djurgardens next season.

They will probably be renamed Hammarby after a 5-year moratorium. Bajen Fans was started 5 years ago after Hammarby (nicknamed Bajen) went bankrupt. They started in Division 4 and have only missed promotion once in their five year history.

Tingsryd is still the only team without a regular time loss after an OT win against Piteå. Piteå played well but just didn't have the edge in front of the goal. Björklöven continues to look good and dispatched Huddinge just as expected. They have just one loss at home all season. Vita Hästen has rebounded after their less than stellar start and took a convincing win over Karlskrona. Karlskrona does not look and act like a team from Hockeyallsvenskan and will need to shake things up and get some speed and ideas into their game or they will find themselves back in Division 1 next year.

Three big wins tonight. Tingsryd dominated Karlskrona and Huddinge played a good home game against Piteå, which was expected. The big win by Vita Hästen over Björklöven was more surprising. Björklöven started the series strong with two victories, but has only one victory in the last three games.

With the series now half-way, Tingsryd has put themselves in a strong position with no regular time losses and a good chance to requalify for Hockeyallsvenskan. Karlskrona has not played as well and has so far only won against Huddinge and Piteå. Vita Hästen is pretty much the opposite of Björklöven, starting with just one point in the first two games, but then they have three straight wins, and rather strong ones at that. Huddinge and Piteå bring up the rear but will continue to be a danger for any time on any given day.

I rank the chances for promotion for the different teams like this:

    Tingsryd - 80%
    Vita Hästen - 50%
    Björklöven - 45%
    Karlskrona - 20%
    Huddinge - 5%
    Piteå - 0%

The two Hockeyallsvenskan teams played a game where it looked like Tingsryd would walk away with 3pts. Karlskrona came back to tie the game with three minutes to go and finally won in shootout. Necessary points for Karlskrona to keep them in the game.

Piteå started strong against Huddinge, both the young Stockholm team came back in the second period and came away with a good victory. Huddinge now has the same number of points as Karlskrona and must not be underestimated.

Björklöven won the rematch against Vita Hästen after the 5-1 loss a couple of days ago and further tightened up the top of the table. Only five points separate the first five teams with four rounds to go.

I hope that proves to be an important win for Björklöven. The last minute winner could be a vital goal.

Top vs. bottom last night when Tingsryd hosted Piteå. A surprisingly strong win for Piteå has tightened up the top of the table where the top four teams are fighting for the top two positions. Björklöven defeated Hudding and has taken the top position with a good margin down to third place. Karlskrona has woken up and scored 13 goals in the last two games and is closing on on the top two positions.
Both Huddinge and Piteå still have a theoretical chance to advance.

Nothing is settled in this series yet. Björklöven is almost qualified for Hockeyallsvenskan with a five point lead over third place with six points to play for. But Karlskrona, Vita Hästen and Tingsryd are all within a point of each other. Two exciting rounds to go.

    Final round of games tonight.

Bjorkloven lost away at Karlskrona on Wednesday and Tingsryds won so its 2 from those 3 who will be in Allsvenskan next year. Bjorkloven still have 18 points, Karlskrona have 17 and Tingsryds 16

Bjorkloven still must be favourites to get one of the places as they are at home to Piteå and still its in their hands. Piteå showed in their last game though when they ended Vita Hästens promotion chances that they can be dangerous spoilers. Karlskrona and Tingsryds both have away games against Huddinge and Vita Hästen respectively.

Really hope Bjorkloven get promoted. I gather they are hoping to sell out the Umeå Arena for tonights game. Would be great to see them back in Allsvenskan.

Are you sure that Bjorkloven wants to play in Allsvenskan for the next season?

The final rounds in this series was just as exciting as a qualification series should be. Björklöven's win was never really threatened. They had to defeat Piteå in the last round to ensure the win, a team they have already defeated seven times this season. Karlskrona and Tingsryd however were neck to neck and each faced a team that had no chance to reach the promotion spot. Neither team managed to win in regulation and when both games went into a shootout the nerves were almost visibly on the outside. Karlskrona's game ended first with a shootout win for Huddinge. Tingsryd went into the shootout knowing that if they won the bonus point they were qualified for another season in Hockeyallsvenskan. However, they could not defeat Vita Hästen tonight and will have to regroup in Division 1 next season.

Congrats to the promotion to Björklöven and a welcome back to Karlskrona.

Definitely. They have been outstanding in Division 1 the last two seasons and need to take step up so not to kill the local interest.

Delighted to see Bjorkloven promote and also pleased to see Karlskrona maintain their spot in Allsvenskan (hopefully they will be stronger next season).

The 3 teams that I was most hoping would promote into the various top 3 divisions (Leksands, Bjorkloven and Bajens Fans Hockey) have all got promoted. So, along with the upcoming Skelleftea-Lulea Elitserien Final, its been a very good few weeks for me.
