I expect two tight and two pretty clear wins today:

Germany can edge Slovakia, possibly in OT and CZE will do the same against Switzerland.

France will not be able to challenge Finland and Sweden will defeat Belarus by 3-4 goals.

If Slovakia plays anything like during the 1st period on Saturday and doesn't get aways with any points from today's game then I'll e really angry. It's about time to beat Germany, I mean I think the last time they did it was 2007, I think.

Must say I feel impressed by Switzerland. Who was thinking or even betting on a win over Sweden and then on Canada made NHL ?

They sounded almost relieved on Swedish radio after the Swiss win over Canada. The general feeling was that "This puts the Swedish loss in a new light.". It's easier to accept a loss to Switzerland if they also show that they can play a good game against other countries as well.

The general public in Sweden still ranks Switzerland alongside Latvia, Belarus, Norway and Denmark as a country that Sweden should win against 10 times out of 10. Time for a reality check perpahs, Swiss hockey has been strong for some years, even if a dip came last year.

I think there was a dip last two years for the Swis, wasn't there? They didn't make the QF in 2011 either.

Anyway, Slovakia was quite lucky to escape with 3 points from today's game, but I'll take it especially after the way the game against the Finns went for us.

Still there's a lot not working for this team. Today, I felt that Staňa was a bit shaky throughout the whole game and it might be a good idea to give Janus atry in next game. I don't understand what Vujtek sees in huge immobile D-men and there's just too many of them on this team. There's zero communication between the D-men and between the D and the offense and it leads to huge errors. Despite a goal today, the line with Kopecký, Bližňák and Radivojevič doesn't seem to be wroking. Záborský's line didn't play as well as in other games, but they got the goals. Good effort from Olvecký today, but lacked creativity in his scoring chances. Stumpel just can no longer keep up with this tempo anymore and they should have taken Šťastný instead him IMO, Šatan at least has his moments in every game, but having both of this gentlemen on one line is absolutely killing Hudáček.

As for Germany, good effot in their first 3 games for them, but in the end 1 points is the only thing that counts. Maybe they can copy Slovakia from last year and keep it up, but I fear that overplaying their top players might hurt them and they might struggle to get the compulsary points against the weaker teams later on. But we'll see.

The Swiss just keep getting it done...........very, very impressive. Name one person who honestly thought they'd go 3-0 against Sweden, Canada, & the Czechs? I sure didn't.

The Czechs seems to have some goaltending issues........why do they insist on sticking with Salak?

Might be a bit premature to say it but I think the Swiss have for all intents have wrapped up
1st pace in their group, which would be an historic first for this emerging hockey nation.

Which will be nice for them for a while, but the question is can they beat some of the teams they have already beaten (most probably Czechs) again in a life and death game? If they finally manage that they might finally step away from the shadows and emerge after these long years where they have been "an emerging nation", but most of the time finished the tournies in the same place. But even in that case can they beat threi 1992 4th place finish? We'l be interesting to watch for sure.

Czech/Czechoslovak hockey team wasn`t never worse than 7th in whole IHWC history. Alois Hadamczik - the worst coach in czech history!!!

will see what the Swiss will do vs less impressive opponents. Often this is their weakness

Solid performance from France, created some nice chances, did a reasonable job in slowing down Finland, Ortio made some very nice saves.

They've got Norway, Belarus, Denmark and Slovenia to deal with.
I think the Swiss have what it takes to run the table but one never knows.
To wit, Sweden is currently tied with unheralded Belarus 1-1 after two periods on
home ice no less (a scary case of deja vu for the Swedes).

    Yeah...

Now i find 13 stable teams, improving France and Austria, Slovenia - outsiders but will be in 12team Sochi tournament. Year by year between elite and division I, together with Italy and Kazakhstan. So maybe we can see some new extension in few years.

I would not be a fan of seeing the Elite Division expanded, no matter how tight the Divisions become, 16 is just fine. Even if/when the gap becomes almost non-existent between Elite and Division IA, I want to see the real battles just to get up to Elite.

Sweden - Belarus.. I didn't catch all of it, missed the start but the end of the game was a bore. Belarus looked like they didn't care and they were only 1 goal down!

well, the start was real fun. i dare say belarus almost outplayed sweden or at least was on par in the first period. unfortunately, they got some stupid and some dubious penalties (which included two almost 2 min 3x5 occasions) and eventually couldn't keep up with the pace in the closing minutes. besides, the goal posts were blatantly rooting for the host team :) that's a pity!

Calm down. Alois isn't that bad coach. Actually he's quite good but these first few matches were always about getting the team together. I'm not afraid that we will not advance to quarterfinals. And that's the match that counts.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
    Better now?
