    Small country, big heart

Slovenia looks to take a bite out of the big dogs
    http://www.iihf.com/
"Slovenia is a country with only 148 registered senior male ice-hockey players and seven rinks. Almost every sixth of Slovenian registered players will represent his country in Sochi. There are more indoor rinks in the Czech Republic (158) than registered senior male players in Slovenia."

    p.s.
Interesting fact that Serbia have more Senior players than Slovenia, in fact I can't believe that information is correct.

Bassa Slovenia is real Ice Hockey Miracle. If you compare Slovenian number of male players with some "exotic" hockey nations from Division III:
    Slovenia: 148 male players 6 times in Elite Division (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2013) and olympic team 2014
Greece: 463 male players, Luxembourg: 130 male players, Hong Kong: 597 male players, North Korea: 640 male players and United Arab Emirates: 118 male players.

These numbers aren't comparable because IIHF doesn't use same method in counting them. Greece has no league, no regular sized ice rink and from this year not even NT but they have little less than 4 times more players than Slovenia?! Of course not, they count all "beer league" players and in case of Slovenia they don't. Simple as that.

That's a fair point by Pršljen, in that every player is counted in those low countries, and all clubs play at a recreational level.
Slovenia has six clubs playing at a high amateur level, but how many rec/beer leagues exist in the various towns that maybe aren't officially part of the national federation and are thus not counted?
