He might do for Croatian hockey what Anze Kopitar has done for Slovene hockey...one can hope.

Personally, I would be satisified if he play only one game...but I am sure Rendulic doesn't think that way :D He beat odds many times, hopefully he will do it again. But it will be hard because AVS offense is sooo stacked.

    Colorado

Wishing him all the best of luck in Colorado and hoping he will help increase the relevancy of hockey in Croatia!

Borna Rendulić's dreams finally came true. The best Croatian hockey player will join the best hockey league in the world, the North American NHL. After his second consecutive brilliant season in the Finnish SM-liiga, the 22-year-old decided to make the move of his career and sign with the NHL franchise Colorado Avalanche. Zagreb-born Rendulić thus became a part of the Croatian sports history, as the first hockey player that began his career in Croatia and signed a contract with a NHL club.

Rendulić's two-year, two-way contract with the very popular Avs is in the possession of the khl.hr editorial office. A long, hot summer awaits Rendulić, since he has to fight for his place in the Denver-based team during the preseason. One option is the transfer to the Avs AHL branch Lake Erie Monsters, due to the fact that he does not have a guaranteed spot on the roster.....

Congrats from me, it is the biggest sign/transfer than Croatian football qualify to Brazil (AHL season will be good for start and then NHL, maybe 10 games this season will be great for Borna).

He will likely spend next season in the AHL. It's just as good as the Finnish league, but with a smaller rink and more physical style of play. He'll need to get used to the playing style and the smaller ice. The real question is whether he makes the NHL in Year 2.

The players with similar background, age and performance are Pulkkinen (Grand Rapids), Salomäki (Milwaukee), younger Granlund (Abbotsford) and Armia (Rochester). I also expect Rendulić to spend a season in Ohio. He would have to work hard in order to get himself ready for the rigour of North American hockey and improve his defensive play.

Croatia is full of good players but Gojanovic spend his money on useless project with NA palyers and KHL league. Returne to EBEL with new team of 50% home players and 50% Croats, because new guys like Rendulic are waiting for opportunity. Give the chance to all boys from Croatia, must to beleive to them, not just for one season. Junior EBEL is good preparation for senior level, so I am waiting for next steps.

What is better, to be last team in KHL with some foreigners who are passengers or to play in EBEL with boys which you know they are yours. Big respect to Rendulic, ALONE to NHL!

Given that Medveščak is practically a North American team sponsored by Russian money that happens to play in Zagreb, Rendulić is actually a one man flagship of Croatian hockey and the means to keep the sport in Croatian media, if and when Medveščak get itself kicked from KHL.

Večernji list's first two sport section pages were all about Rendulic. "Sportske novosti" rather choose to give Medvescak whole page and gave Rendulic only one - third of next one. I just dont know how Bears deserved more attention than first Croatian born and (partially) trained player who scored his first NHL goal.

With the so-so season Colorado is having it looks like Rendulic will be playing for the croatian team in holland .

Easy...Lake Erie also needs to be heavily out of the playoff picture, as they are playing their last regular season game on April 18th (WC is from 13th to 19th).

Top 6 - if everyone available answers the call

    Rendulić - Naglich - Kinasewich
    Perkovich - Murray - Glumac

Yes, my mistake, but still top 6 should look like that if everyone comes.

I live in Denver, and am a big Rendulic fan. Problem is, every time he gets momentum and a look with the big club, he stops doing what made him successful. Stops agitating and hitting everything in sight. Add to the fact he's had a few documented incidents of arguing with coaches, and I don't know how much longer he is here. On the right team, with a fresh start, and a new attitude, there's no doubt he has the skillset to play in the NHL. Hopefully he figures it out soon.

Umm, I don't have them handy or anything. I know there was a big one in training camp last year, and it's been mentioned a few times within the local media.

It's was a tough but redemptive year for Borna.

Went through a horrible scoring slump through till at least mid season.

Really proved himself with above average forechecking and grasping defensive side of the game.

Ended season with a one game callup to Vancouver and very good scoring pace last 30 games or so.

Travis Green likes the potential and learning curve of Rendulic.
