Kerusz, maybe it's just my impression following MOL Liga just through results and highlights, but the level is growing up this season, with all teams quite competitive, except Sport Club comparing with last seasons. I'd love to see a team from Budapest in playoffs, could be an ignition for fans passion....unfortunately numbers of spectators are still disappointing for FTC and UTE

    3. Higher number of goals scored between the teams involved.
    4. Goal differential from all games played in the regular season.

There will be a Budapest team in the playoffs, for sure, the question is, which one? UTE has now better cards but much harder opponents left. I think all teams were competitive this season, but HSC Csíkszereda had a very unexperienced roster and they missed the good luck several times.

    google translate

The autumn four-nation tournament was first contacted and after a favorable Polish reception at the end of December at the invitation of the Polish Association of Krakow continued the preliminary consultations any Polish extension of the MOL Liga, where the Hungarian side Zoltan Kovacs Charles MJSZ General and Radnai MOL League vice-president attended. Consultations Charles Radnai the icehockey.hu has reported.

MOL League for expansion in Poland is a very important strategic goal, perhaps the fans may have noticed that the league's website a few months ago is now available in Polish, which obviously we devote to the gesture of rapprochement. The purpose of the discussions during the last meeting was accordingly based presentation of the Hungarian league, the discussions to focus on the association and not representative of the troops took place. Two concepts have drawn up the Polish colleagues.

One would be a simple extension of the MOL Liga, one or more of the Polish team. The troops of the Sanok already expressed an interest, but we know that other teams have similar ambitions. However, we are basically in the partnership and not the konkurálásban we are interested in, so we do not want to take steps that may be in the Polish Championship or the alliance against the interests of people. Therefore sketched a different approach, which is up to the tournament as a whole could provide a Polish cooperation.

Accordingly, a northern and a southern divisions would entail allocating the league with the northern division of the Polish southern division will form the current MOL League Teams. In order to ensure that the combination is already in the regular season better be brought more forcefully raised the possibility of a Polish team immediately to the south, in a recent MOL-League team is up to the northern division could be launched, as well as a back and forth round up starting at the initial stage megmérkőzne all each team (two more laps back and forth while playing down the teams within the division). Thus, the order of 40 to 50-game regular season szerveződhetne each side, depending on how many teams in the divisions we think.

The combination of opinion, both championship series would benefit, since roughly the same number and capacity of teams participating in both the league and the media interest clearly increase even more prestigious matches see on the fans and geographically nor insurmountable distances, because the Polish First Division every team is located near the southern border of the Polish troops and look for opportunities to move the international arena for years.

Of course, not at all certain that the next season has been the combination succeed, a lot depends on the one hand, and the Polish Association of Polish troops' meetings, and the combination would obviously affect the finances of the teams. What is in any case very optimistic we look to the future, it is clear that in the long run, this may be the direction of development in both leagues for which up to Central Europe's largest and one of the finest championship could be established, which then either join another Slovak, Romanian or South Slavic teams .

The consultation may have additional positive boost to this year's Division I / A World Championship will be hosted by Poland just where all the fans, players and team officials will be more closely acquainted both ways.

    playoff preview

originally published @ www.icehockey.hu, author: Szabolcs Závodszky

The MOL League playoffs start this week with two first round matchups, defending champions Nové Zámky will take on Újpest with last years runners up Brasov facing the new club Debrecen. The first round is a best of three series with the lower ranking team hosting the first game followed by the next to being at the higher ranked team's arena.

    Nové Zámky-UTE

It could be said that both teams had surprise season this year, Újpest are in the playoffs for the first time in five years after only having two wins last year. Nové Zámky finished third after last seasons title run, however they did not have a smooth regular season after leading the standings at one point. Lubomir Hurtaj is the third coach for the team this season. These two teams faced each other in the first game of the season as Zámky won in a shootout. Nové Zámky took the series lead 5 games to 1 with two shootout wins. Jozef Mihalik from UTE finished tied for the league lead in points (60) and also lead the league in assists (41), Martin Frolik lead all Nové Zámky (48) scorers which was good for eleventh in the league.

Game 1: Tuesday 18:00 at Újpest

Game 2. Friday 18:00 at Nové Zámky

Game 3: Saturday 19:00 at Nové Zámky (if needed)

    Brasov-Debreceni HK

Last years runners up are having a carbon copy of last years season as they finished in the middle of the table and backed into the playoffs, and just like last year the club is not coached by the same coaches as who they started with. Assistant coach Hakan Nygren had to travel back to Sweden because of personal reasons, head coach Jerry Andersson will be assisted by Csíkszereda head coach Christer Dreberg. Debrecen surprised people by not only having a team that could compete in the MOL League but also grabbed a playoff spot. The club managed to stay in the playoff race despite having a number of injuries, with healthy squad filled with players with playoff experience the team could not only pull off an upset in the first round but could end up in the finals. Brasov took the regular season series 4-2, Martin Saluga finished tied for fifth in the league in scoring with 52 points whereas Danil Kaskov finished twelfth with 47 one point ahead of teammate Ákos Berta.

Game 1: Tuesday 18:00 at Debrecen (DIGI Sport)

Game 2: Friday 18:00 at Brasov (DIGI Sport)

Game 3: Saturday 17:00 at Brasov (if needed)

.... they didn't have another game to play that night. You want to play two leagues at once, suck it up and do it.
When I played on two teams, I had 4 games in 3 nights at one point during playoffs. You do it because you bloody well want to win. Sad, sad, sad on Nove Zamky.

That looks awful for the league. What a shame. Is there any thought to kicking Nove Zamky out of MOL-Liga?

Interesting news on the Polish language option for the website in preparation of a Polish team(s) joining the league. I will be watching the off-season very closely!

What a fantastic comeback from Miskolc and to complete the sweep as well.

Not the greatest of title defenses though from Nové Zamky, atleast not in the Finals.

Any ideas why they were using goal judges in Miskolc?
