The championship is over. Gil was linesman in 6 games, including - interestingly enough - a game of the United Arab Emirates (vs Turkey) and a game of North Korea (vs Hong Kong).
North Korea won the title and qualified to div. 2B next year. They might play Israel (though that wouldn't be a precedent).

How was he treated in the UAE vs. Turkey game, and overall?

    Israel

I don't know. We'd have to wait for his impressions first hand.

Apparently he wrote about his experiences on his Wikipedia user page. He says the IIHF and the Turkish federation were helpful and courteous, and that the Emirates game he officiated was a wonderful experience. In fact he says he exchanged jokes with their players, and they gladly accepted a flag and a pin of the Israeli federation.
