This is the official site for the tournament. As with other tournaments in Asiago, this one will be live streamed for free. Good on the FISG!

    Daniel Morandell (Sv Caldaro)
    Simone Armand Pilon (Hc Valpellice)
    Davide Mantovani (Asiago Hockey 1935)

    Defense:
Massimo Cordiano (HC Lugano Elite Jr A – Svizzera)
Antonio Marcello (HC Kometa Brno – Rep.Ceca)
    Philipp Beber (HC Appiano)
    Daniel Costa (Hc Gherdeina)

    Maximilian Ploner (Rittner Buam)
    Nicola Soravia (Sg Cortina)
    Ivan Seeber (SSI Vipiteno)
    Luca Mattivi (Asiago Hockey 1935)
Gregor Lanziner (Hockey Milano Rossoblu/Alexandria Blizzard - NA3HL USA)

    Forwards:
Giovanni Morini (Sg Cortina/HC Lugano – Juniori – Svizzera)
    Fabrizio Pace (Asiago Hockey 1935)
Luca Barnabò (US 3 Cime/HC Lugano – Juniori – Svizzera)
Alex Lambacher (HC Gherdeina/Jugenadler Mannheim – Germania)
Joachim Ramoser (Ritten Sport/Red Bull Salisburgo MHL – Austria)
    Simone Olivero (Asiago Hockey 1935)
Josè Antonio Magnabosco (Asiago Hockey 1935)
Michael Purdeller (HC Val Pusteria Junior)
    Matteo Dantone (SHC Fassa)
Paolo Morini (Sg Cortina/HC Lugano – Juniori – Svizzera)

    Federico Cordin (HC Valpellice)
    Riccardo Lacedelli (Sg Cortina)
    Markus Spinell (Rittner Buam)
    Ronny De Zanna (Sg Cortina)

Watch out for Italy's Joachim Ramoser. The forward from Ritten is playing in Red Bull Salzburg's MHL generating a scoring output of almost a point/game. Pretty much Salzburgs most dangerous player.

Well for Slovenia i'm sure this is final roster, because there is 20 players and 3 goalkeepers. Only i'm not sure about goalkeepers since previously there was only two of them on final rosters. Did iihf change the rule about that? Here they say nothing about possible dropout of any goalkeeper: http://hokej.si/v-ponedeljek-ze-zbor...zentantov-u20/
If there is gonna be only two of them then i think that Trelc and Us will stay...

Latvia will have to play without one of its potential leaders Rihards Bukarts (WHL), who is injured. Golovkovs (QMJHL) and Egle (USHL) will play.

Today and tomorrow Latvia plays two exhibition games vs. Kazakhstan in Riga, afterwards the final roster is going to be announced.

Hopefully the stream works outside Latvian borders as both my favorite hockey nations meet.

    Right, here's the link. http://sportacentrs.com/sportacentrs...ele_hokeja_lat

It is also possible that they'll show both games, not only the first one.

I watched first two periods, Latvia up three goals, Kazakhstan can't get out of their own zone. I switch the game off and now I read that we lost the game? What the hell?

28 players called by head coach Roger Bader (SUI) for the test game against France in Telfs/AUT on Thursday 11.12. Interestingly the other (of two) AUT CHL players, Dominc Zwerger (D, Spokane) has not been invited. Player to watch should be Dominik Haudum (Linz now Södertälje) who played himself into a preliminary NHL draft list recently.

Feel that it's between Latvia and Norway for promotion. Going to call it for Norway though.

Italy is my pick to be relegated, just don't see them having enough to beat the others.

Latvia, Norway or probably Belarus for promotion and the medals. The rest against relegation with Italy probably being the first candidate to go down. The Austrian team's leadership has stated remaining in IA to be the official goal for the tournament. Final roster for team AUT will be announced after tonight's test game against France.

    AUT – FRA 1:6 (0:2,0:1,1:3)
    0:1 Bozon (5./PP2),
    0:2 Douay (10.)
    0:3 Bozon (23./PP)
    0:4 Bouvet (42./PP)
    0:5 Kazarine (45./PP)
    0:6 Chapuis (58./PP)
    1:6 Reisinger (60./PP)
    SOG 35:18
    PIM: 20 plus 10 resp. 16

Bad beating for team AUT, seems the penalty kill is not an asset. A couple of players are sick already and some more a about to fall sick it is reported. So making the cut down to 22 players won't be too hard for the coaches.

I'm struggling to find informations on the format of the event, all i can see on the iihf website is the schedule. I know it's just a round robin and that's it (i don't get why btw), but it would still be nice to know specifics on rules and such (overtimes? tiebreakers in the standings?)..

Usual rules for such tournaments: single round robin, 5 games per team, 3pts for regulation time win, 2pts for OT or SO win, 1pt for OT or SO loss. Overtime is 5 minutes, game winning shots first 3 vs.3 if still tied then pairwise to decision. 2 way ties broken by head to head points. 3 (or multi) way ties broken by head to head in points of games involving only the tied teams, then goal difference in these games, then goals scored. Its the same in all IIHF tourneys more or less.

True, I agree. But as far as I recall there is some kind of tournament format pdf on the IIHF site which explains the rules...maybe this will only be put up once the tournament has started. Can't find it right now myself.

Good case to see how important this forum is ;-)
    Welcome btw!

Slovenian final roster has changed a little. Miha Zajc is not in due to injury. Krištof Potočnik (Triglav Kranj) is playing as substitution for him. And Mark Vlahovič drops out as third goalkeeper.

Well, Belarus tops the group followed by Norway. Given this point of the tournament, did anybody expect this?

So far we had the top three teams (Latvia, Belarus and Norway) winning the games against the lower three (Italy, Austria and Slovenia). LAT-ITA and BLR-AUT still to be played. Slovenia managed to take away a point from Norway. Of the games between the top three only LAT-BLR has been played, Belarus won it by 2:1. Of the lower three team head to head games which will most likely decide which team will be relegated AUT-ITA saw Italy win in overtime after coming back from a 4-1 deficit in the last period.
So the standings are BLR 9pts, NOR 8pts, LAT 6pts, ITA 2pts and AUT and SLO 1pts each.

First game today is SLO-AUT, whoever is going to lose this one has the least chances to survive. In the second game today BLR-NOR the Belorussians can already secure gold and promotion with a regulation time win. Italy plays Latvia in the evening game.

Ok, Austria beat Slovenia 7:3 just now which means that AUT will play in division IA also next year. The Slovenians will have to beat Italy on Saturday to stay up provided the hosts don't have more than 4 points after today's game against Latvia.

Belarus has defeated Norway cleanly by 5:1 and has secured the gold medal and promotion to next year's WJC. Convincing performance in the tournament by the belarussian juniors, just in the game against Latvia the score was close and even there they had a comfortable advantage in shots so I guess we can safely say the best team has ended up in first place.

As far as it seemed Latvia rather lost the game than Belarus won it. But, tbh, Latvia doesn't deserve the promotion this year. Our team was very young, federation made a questionable decision with regards to coaching - it was Ankipans debut as the head coach. He made some questionable calls with regards to roster, Latvia lacked team play and execution. Still, we have great kids, and it seems that Latvia has a solid chance of avoiding relegation in this year's U18 WC.

Shame, but not totally surprising. It was always a three horse race. Belarus was long due some success.

On the final day Latvia lost to Norway in the shoot out after the rare event of no goal scored in 65 minutes of hockey. So Norway takes 2nd place while Latvia ends up with the bronze. In the second game Belarus beat Austria 5:4 in OT, with nothing much at stake in the game AUT had the lead several times but Belarus tied it every time. Literally a second to the end Austria scored the supposed game winner but the time keepers decided that the the time was over before the puck went in (which wasn't the case). With a win AUT would have taken 4th place as Italy lost to Slovenia in a 9:5 goal frenzy.
What I found interesting is that this tournament overall wasn't exactly dominated by defense and goalkeeping, there were plenty of games with hilariously low save percentages. Only three of 12 netminders who got ice time (everyone at least equivalent to one game) managed a SVS% of more than 90%. Norway's Hestnes with 96% is very good, Gorodetski (BLR) and Kivlenieks (LAT) with 93% and 92% respectively were ok as well but everyone else was already way below 90%.
