I don't know about the exact status but both of them are not on the updated roster list for the tournament. According to coach Roger Bader there were already 10 players (forwards) unavailable due to injuries before the start of the training camp and during the camp 4 more, apparently including Baltram and Jennes, had to pull out so that right now there's only 11 forwards left.

In the test game yesterday Austria beat Poland 7:1

Is there any reason why Mathias Emilio Pettersen was left off the Norwegian roster? Granted he's known more for being in Youtube highlights since he was 8, and is still only 16, but is he not good enough he could have made Norway?

I think a couple of factors have played in.

He was part of their U18-team last year and also played at the 2016 YOG, hence they have seen him play internationally for Norway, but at this point he appears to be more of a PP specialist, who could struggle 5-on-5 at this level (Pettersen’s +/- rating of -20 is a league worst in the USHL) and if the coaching staff doesn’t see him as a viable option on the 1st or 2nd line, it’s perhaps better to wait for next year.

What a pleasant surprise team AUT is so far in this tourney. Initially (even before the wave of injuries kicked in) the expectations were that it would be a fight from beginning to the end against getting relegated but that seems very far away now and given the 6pts they have now not getting a medal would be kind of disappointing.
Yesterday against Germany AUT played very well, the team outskated the bigger but far less agile Germans and so didn't give them any space or time to get to enough good scoring opportunities. And Dominic Divis in net was very good too.
Roger Bader apparently does a really good job, not only as a head coach but also on the broader level of modernizing the player development overall.

Very tight group so far, the Austrians managed to screw up the perfect start with a loss to Kazakhstan (like last year) despite a early 2:0 lead and a fair advantage in shots (esp. in the first and early 2nd period). But the Kazakhs came back with a strong powerplay and also killed off an Austrian 2-men advantage early in the third period when the score was 3-3.
With Germany beating Belarus in shootout almost anything can still happen in this group.

"Wie gewonnen, so zeronnen" as a fitting German proverb says...gret start to the tourney and then a
Despite outshooting France almost twofold the Austrians fuck up the game that would have brought them a final game against BLR for promotion with a lack of scoring efficiency, sub-par goaltending and foremost a lack of discipline. What a wasted chance.

Would have been real neat to see Austria at the top level next year, but they can't lose games against teams like Kazakhstan, and needed to do better versus France. However now they get the chance to play spoiler, though I'm sure the France-Germany game will be a lot closer. So I'm going to predict Belarus wins promotion tomorrow, but it'll not be easy.

Actually the only real benefit it would have had for Austria if they promoted would be that they can't be relegated to div IB next season but rather end up in IA again in two years. Austria's upcoming 1998 class is very modest and will have a hard time next year. If they had to play in the elite pool it would be a mess anyway...

Belarus is the big favourite, I guess they will make it.
