This season Croatian championship is one of the weirdest yet played and the competition was hard. The funniest thing is that there is not going to a regular season, sort of. Three teams from Zagreb, Medveščak, Mladost and Zagreb are going to play in open Slovenian championship alongside five Slovenian and one Serbian team. The best placed Croatian team is going to take No 1 spot for the Croatian playoffs scheduled to take place in March. The second and the third team will take spots 2 and 3, respectively.
Given that Sisak still hasn't an ice hall, it can't play in Slovenia but will play in the playoffs taking the No 4 spot. In order to give "knights" something to do before the playoff, three teams from Zagreb will play three matches each against Sisak. These matches will have absolutely no impact of the distribution of spots in the playoffs though. The only relevant statistics will be the number of points for skaters and percentage of saves for goalies. These figures will be added to those achieved in Slovenian championship and the playoffs to get the top scorer and top goalkeeper at the end of the season.
