Ahti, seems that Estonia will play without Robert Arrak ja Kristjan Kombe? What a huge loss...

Oh so true. We are without 10 of our top guys...

    We could/should look like

    Sakhokia-Arrak-Berezonov
    Kiik-Kombe-Jürgens
    Jõgi-Ojamäe-Linde
    Aleksandrov-Lodeikin-Puzakov
    Morozov

    Slessarevski-Savenkov
    Barantsukov-Murashko
    Anufriev-Novikov
    Laosma

    Mölder
    Jõgi
    (Tahk or Soovik)

    But we look so different...

I have high hopes for Canic and Polonijo. Canic scored two goals at U20 in december as triple underager, and Polonijo has almost PPG in EBJL as double underager.

It will be interesting, this tournament in Korea. Far from home for many teams. Koreans are great at home, this team will be hard to beat. And Lithuania has really good one too. Great Britain is a bit of a mystery, but Ontario Hockey Academy goalie in Team Australia was really good, there are many guys from that organization in their roster. Estonia would be my clear #1 team to win the tournament ... with its best team. We send out our B team and that is not enough... Romania is a new squad out there and hard to know what they'll be like. Croatian guys have tons of experience of international level for those guys, but it is hard to imagine too big sucsess. Jet lag, different culture, olympic arenas... it will be life time experience for the boys!

The main reasons to that? Are some players still thinking that they have chance to other nationalteams or thinking changing nationality for practical reasons to help life where they are playing? Are there injuries or still season playoffs (Robert Arrak?

must be playoffs, arrak played already for estonia at u20, while kombe was with u18 team at preparation games, I assume he would be already at Finland's u17 roster if good enough.

To play in Finland u17 one needs passport - citizenship. Kombe is not citizen of Finland. Nothing to do with the issue how good he is. He got nasty cut in the final game of B juniors SM liiga.

Arrak has not been interested in playing in u18 team last year and the same story now. Still he will play for men's team in mid April. His team is as far from play offs as Moscow from mars. So nothing to do with that. His agent said that it is his (Robert's) decision to end the season in USHL. They have 4 games at the same time as u18 is being played in Gangneung. Going to Korea would mean skipping also game on 31st so 5 games over all.

Guys in Russia dream of playing in MHL. They have obtained double citizenship. Kombe, Mölder and Lodeikin are so far only Estonian citizens, but still opened for the possibility to become Finnish one day. By nationality two of them are Estonians, one Russian. All born in Estonia. All Estonian citizens. Anufriev, Berezonov, Sakhokia, Murashko, Morozov, Savenkov all born and started their hockey in Estonia, all Estonian citizens. Ojamäe was born in Sweden. And for him to come and play 2 seasons in Estonia would mean losing hockey career in Sweden, not an option right now...

Lithuania has started camp yesterday. Grinius played his last game then, but his K-Vantaa dropped in Finland and he will join the others. They play their exhibition game against HS Riga on Sunday and it will possible to follow it live on YouTube.

GB is having their final camp in Slovakia. And they play against Okanagan EU on 29th. Will fly to Korea the next day.

Korea has two week camp going on from March 14th. have 4 exhibition games during that time. Have the final team (20 skaters and 3 goalies) in that thing.

Estonia has camp from Monday and 26 players take part. 1 goalie, 1 forward and 2 defencemen will be cut.

    St.Polten (AUT)

Okanagan EU - Great Britain 5:4

Great Britain Under-18s were beaten 5-4 by OHA Europe in St Polten, Austria in the first of two games as part of their World Championship preparations.

GB are currently in the middle of a training camp ahead of the World Championship Division 2 Group A, which starts in Korea this weekend.

Finlay Ulrick, Mac Howlett, Harry Gulliver and Tyler Cooper scored GB’s goals against OHA Europe.

Coach, Martin Grubb, said: “These games are all about getting prepared for Korea and we haven’t been together since December, so we knew there would be some areas we needed to work on.

“There were lots of positives for us to take but we also learnt a lot about the players and team in a challenging situation.

“Although it’s always nice to win, we always said it was all about learning and being ready for our opening game against Estonia and this allows us to help do that.

“We will now review the game, learn from it and make sure we are better tomorrow as part of our preparations.”

Okanagan EU - Great Britain 7:2

Great Britain U18s completed their pre-tournament camp with a second successive game against the U18 Varsity team of Okanagan Europe.

Wednesday’s game in Bratislava saw GB start with Angus Laing in net, with Lewis Davies getting ice for the third period – meaning all three travelling goalies have played game time before the tournament.

GB were down 2-0 at the first break and saw Tyler Cooper have a penalty shot saved in the middle session. Liam Kirk got Britain on the board late in the second period, and Chad Smith potted a second three minutes into the third, but Okanagan took the game away and ran out 7-2 winners in the end.

Head Coach Martin Grubb said after the game: “Tonight was not the result we wanted but the aim has always been to use these games to be ready for the championships and when we play Estonia.

“This camp allowed us to get valuable ice time and game time and we always knew we would have areas to develop. This doesn’t change what we are hoping to achieve and these two games against a very good team can only help us.”

Croatia was awful. We are going down and it is questionable if we're ever going to come back as long as we're led by the same people that threw us into the pit.

You could use some reality check. We barely crossed the red line on purpose.

Yes, they were bad just like the rest of the team. And I agree, it will be very hard to come back, Netherlands, Serbia and Spain are good teams, better than Australia who won promotion (at least based on what I saw during D2B tourney). Sad...four years ago at U18 we were one goal away from promotion to D1B. :(

I fly tomorrow to Seoul, so there might be problems with filling in the game sheets here. I do it for the 4th tonight all 3 games and might add stats later. I hope to be at the final game of 4th and I'll see how easy it is to do at the arenas...

Croatians gave everything but in the end they could not hold against physically better prepared and more skilled Estonians.

Yeah. Our guys were clearly not ready... But all is good that ends well! My son made a debut on IIHF Worlds with a win. Thank you Croatia!
