Team AUT head coach Roger Bader has nominated a 28 player roster for the tournament in Innsbruck. Players from Red Bull Salzburg have been left out due to their CHL play-off involvement. Same goes for Malmö Redhawks forward Lukas Haudum. As usual a fairly young roster with an avg age of 25 and no player older than 30. Dominic Zwerger who had a very solid career in the WHL and is now in his first senior season 2nd best scorer of his NLA team Ambri-Piotta will make his senior NT debut.

A fairly balanced Danish team with a mix of established veterans with plenty of IHWC experienced and younger players, primarily from the Danish Elite League.
In net, usual starter Sebastian Dahm is still recovering from an injury and the absence (Likely opted to stay with his club Södertälje in the Allsvenskan) of George Sørensen has given the opportunity to both Nicolaj Henriksen and Thomas Lillie.
While Henriksen made his senior debut last season, Lillie has yet to play for Denmark at this level.
As for other notable players left out of the roster, in addition to the absence of Dahm, Denmark’s 5 KHL’ers plus Malmö forwards Nichlas Hardt & Frederik Storm and München winger Mads Christensen are also missing.
Defensively it’s a very solid group and includes 6 returnees from Denmark’s 2017 IHWC roster (Stefan Lassen was absence duo to an injury).
Offensively, Vegas Golden Knights’ prospect Jonas Røndbjerg makes his senior national team’s debut and a couple of players, namely Patrick Bjørkstrand (played last year in the AHL) and Brynäs’ center Jesper Jensen (Injuries) are once again available. Rounding out the forward-position is a lot of familiar names combined with players, who at some point could land a roster spot on Denmark’s IHWC team.
In other year’s Denmark would likely have used such a tournament as this one to ice more of a development team, but with the 2018 IHWC on home-ice getting closer it makes sense to focus more on the players most likely to make the team come May.
The games against Norway and Korea will be very interesting as it’s the first and only time Denmark plays them before this year’s IHWC and with both countries (based on the present rosters) being a lot closer to their strongest lineup, it should be a good test.

Out:
Daniel Nielsen – Herning
Martin Højbjerg – Aalborg

AUT-KOR got commented as being a meaningless game from a pov of the hosts asa the Koreans despite the early lead were not very competitive. In this shape they will get slaughtered at the Olympics and IHWC. KAC fans are probably very positive about the game as forward Manuel Ganahl who hasn't scored in ages in the club jersey probably broke his scoring curse with the hattrick.
Right now AUT-DEN is on, 0-0 after the first, fairly even and kind of boring game. No doors broken so far ;-)

Denmark clinches the tournament with today’s win over Austria.
The two countries will meet again in February (alongside Latvia and France) when Denmark hosts its own EIHC tournament.
And in the third period we did indeed witness another broken bench door!
After the equalizer the Austrians got the momentum and pushed for the go ahead goal and as only a regulation time win would give the hosts the tournament victory the goalie (Thomas Höneckl this time) got pulled and DK got the empty netter and first place while AUT has to settle with 3rd place after Norway. Congrats to the DIU team!
From an Austrian perspective the tourney was pretty ok. The team is absolutely on par with the opponents in terms of skating and speed but definitely has a lack of creating chances and organising its game offensively, especially with the man advantage. Austria had 5 lines of forwards and defensemen with one block sitting out at each game (first 2 lines played all three games). Didn't make a big difference who was on 3rd and 4th lines however.
