    Tipsport Liga 2019/2020

The contract between the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation and Pro-Hokej who is in charge of the league is scheduled to expire at the end of this month. There was a lot of noise about the federation taking over the league due to disagreement on the topic of a limit on foreigners.

However it seems they have come to an agreement and the contract will be renewed for one more year with Richard Lintner continuing hos position as the league's boss.

There should be a limit on number of foreigners in the league - 1 goalie and 6 skaters per team which I think most of the teams already fulfilled during last season. No idea if the limit would also apply to the Hungarian teams though.

So looks like the previous information was incorrect and the Slovak federation will indeed take over Tipsport Liga. There will be a limit on foreigners and also a minimal requirement for junior players for each team. The u20 team will no longer play the league, they will renew the u18 team instead, but that one will likely play either in 1.liga or junior league.

All of this might still be subject to change as there will be elections at the Congress of the federation next month. All candidates are not known yet, but Miro Satan is thinking about it, incumbent Kohut hasn't confirmed nor denied that he will run for second time and the same goes for Rochard Lintner. I think it is already confirmed that Darius Rusnak will be a candidate and he is a representative of the old structures in Slovak hockey that keep on talking about how Slovak systems are oh so great and are against bringing foreigners to Slovak hockey.

So not sure what his potential win would mean for the Hungarian clubs.

So now Slovan Bratislava has announced that they have applied to Tipsport Liga.

But they need to pay off all their debts before they will be approved. Also they have no valid player contracts for TL and head coach Orszagh has confirmed he would only opt in to continue for KHL.
