    2020 IIHF U20 World Championship Division II Group A

    Division II Group A started yesterday in Vilnius, Lithuania. Japan is the top seed of the tournament after being relegated from Division I Group B in 2019. Serbia is the lowest seed after gaining promotion from Division II Group B.

    on Day 1 things pretty much went as expected with wins for Japan, Romania and Lithuania.

    - Great Britain 3-6 Japan
    - Serbia 3-5 Romania
    - Lithuania 5-1 Spain

    Pleased to see the British team bounced back today after yesterday’s loss to Japan. The weakness of the UK’s U20 program has been a problem for several years. It looks like they’ll still be in Div II next season, the way Japan have started.

    On Day 2 Japan steamrolled Romania, Spain beat Serbia and as GeoffH mentioned Great Britain bounced back with a win over Lithuania.

    - Spain 3-2 Serbia
    - Lithuania 3-6 Great Britain

    On Day 3 Japan decided to steamroll Spain in the same manner as they did Romania, and Great Britain and Lithuania both picked up their second wins.

    - Japan 8-0 Spain
    - Great Britain 5-3 Romania
    - Lithuania 3-2 Serbia

    On Day 4 Great Britain needed a shooutout to defeat Spain, Japan easily pushed aside Serbia and Lithuania got a decent win over Romania.

    - Spain 3-4 (SO) Great Britain
    - Serbia 2-10 Japan
    - Romania 3-7 Lithuania

    The final day sees Japan defeat Lithuania to finish top of the standings and return to Division I Group B. Great Britain finishes in second place (one spot higher then 2019) and Lithuania third. Serbia finishes in last after failing to win a single game and is relegated back to Division II Group B.

    - Great Britain 5-2 Serbia
    - Romania 4-1 Spain
    - Japan 5-2 Lithuania

    2. Great Britain - 11pts
