Yes ! "our" girls did it again:

EV Zug (SWI) - EC Bergkamen (GER) 3 : 1

EVZ wins group in Germany and advances to final tournament in Stockholm. Now we can only hope that after last years sensational 3rd place (however this time Espoo will be warned..) it does not take another call for donations on the National TV station to collect enough money for the trip...

I'm surprised about Zug, and not..... Zug has a very good team, and they will probably win this year the national championship again. They have the Marty-Twins which I know from EHC Wettingen-Baden. This two young ladies (17 years old?) are very, very good. Not only for Zug, also for the National Team.

I believe, Zug will play a very good final Tournament. And - of course - let's hope, they will have the money to go to Stockholm....
    Cheers, Franco

It actually is quite a surprise because Germany is usually better than SWI in Women's hockey.. And also the team is reduced, because exactly the Marty-Twins are abroad. BTW: The only game I've seen so far in the league last year was played with 12 players: 2 lines, 1 GK + backup-keeper to open the door..
And considering that they have to use 3 different ice rinks in the region to get enough ice-time for 2 hours of training a week - well - not bad...

Wow ! - you were right, Franco - Zug is really showing a very good tournament, considering that last year they arrived just with the hope to show an honourable (which means not loosing all games with 10 goals difference..) performance.
And last year they also had (SWI-) Canadian help with Laura Ruhnke, but now they play without any foreigners. On the other hand they had of course this year, thanks to the certainty that they had enough sponsors to travel to Stockholm at all, more time to prepare for it.
Well, thanks to the great fighting spirit shown against Moscow, they still have it in their own hands to repeat or even top last years 3rd place...

    Hopp Zug !
