    Antero Niittymäki

In last game vs New Jersey, Flyers goalie Antero Niittymaki improved his career NHL record to 4-0, two of which have come against New Jersey. Niittymaki made 26 saves while Brodeur suffered the loss allowing five goals on 33 shots.

“I felt pretty good. As I got more shots, I got more comfortable,” said Niittymaki. “It was actually pretty easy in the third period once we had a three-goal lead.”

After three games it seems Teemu is finally fully recovered. 2+1 in three games is rather good. Many hockey fans stated he's done after bad last season in Colorado. I hope he stays healthy so we could see a full form Selänne also in Turin Olympics.

Jussi Jokinen of Dallas Stars has 4g+3a=7p in 9 games. If he can keep it going he might be our best scoring rookie forward since Selänne.

Our predicted first line in the Olympics is of course Lehtinen-Koivu-Selänne. They have scored 16g+10a=26p in 28 games.

    Toskala returns

The San Jose Sharks activated goaltender Vesa Toskala from injured reserve Saturday and sent goalie Dimitri Patzold back to their top affiliate in Cleveland.

Toskala is 0-3-0 with a 5.07 goals-against average and a .826 save percentage this season - and Nolan Schaefer has thrived in his absence, winning five consecutive games.

Mikko Koivu scored his first NHL goal in his second game as berdush already reported in the Minnesota Wild thread. He also managed to score in the shootout.

In their recent shootout Sellane did the "throw the gloves in the air and shoot them down with his stick" celebration that I remember seeing him do after he scored his rookie goal scoring record goal.

He's playing like a kid again and carrying the ducks

Olli Jokinen scored his first hattrick in NHL as Florida beat Pittsburgh 6-3. This was also the first Finnish hattrick of the season. Looking for more to come.

Jussi is rapidly becoming a fan favorite here in Dallas, and has earned a more or less permanent place on our 1st line with Modano.

Antii M. and Niko Kapenen have also been playing well, though I can't recall off hand what their point totals have been. Like our senior Finn, Lehtinen, they are just quiet and hard working, and get a lot done under the other team's radar.

Jere is in top form, and is the Stars' scoring leader. It's a pleasure and a priviledge to watch him play every night.

Yes, we LOVE our Finns in Dallas!

Here are the stats for all Finns in Dallas

    Jere Lehtinen 12+7=19
    Jussi Jokinen 8+8=16
    Niko Kapanen 2+13=15
    Antti Miettinen 3+7=10

I think Miettinen is second in hits in the team after Morrow, but I don't have any numbers.

Valtteri Filppula made 0+1 in his first NHL game and made history for being first Finnish player ever to play in Detroit

Also Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne played his first NHL game. He saved 35/38 shots when Nashville won Chicago 5-3.

    Tuomo Ruutu

bad news guys, Tuomo Ruutu left the game [vs preds] during the second period with a injury to his right leg and did not return, no official update yet.
    from the hawks site:
Chicago suffered 2 injuries in the game. Tuomo Ruutu, who just returned for his 4th game after a back injury, got a deep gash on his leg late in the 2nd period on the goal post, and will be out for an indefinite period.

Janne Niinimaa got traded to Dallas. There are now six Finns in the Stars and it's a new record of Finnish players playing in the same NHL team at the same time.

Jussi Jokinen of Dallas Stars has scored a goal for his team in a shootout seven times this season already. His SO percent is 100.

    Jokinen say no to Florida

Florida Panthers captain Olli Jokinen is not interested in Florida's latest contract offer of four years, $16-million. He will become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he can't agree to a new deal with the Panthers.

Ville Nieminen got transfered to San Jose.

Olli Jokinen has been the most rumoured Finn to get traded. There has been plenty of possible new homes for him like Ottawa or Calgary. We'll see if he gets a trade.

Not a season without a goal!

Teppo Numminen did it again and he is yet to go through an ENTIRE NHL season without a goal. :claphands

By scoring a goal last night against Philly Teppo stretched the number of continuous seasons of scoring a goal to 17.

I hope Teppo plays next season too. I want to see that one more goal by him! :stupid:

Aki Berg will end his NHL career to this season. He will play in Europe next year. He says that as a father of two he is fed up with constant travelling.

Berg has played a total of 9 seasons with Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

    Small off topic:
I have question for Finnish members.

Do you have NHL on Finnish TV? Or you use only Internet?

We have NHL on Canal+ which is a pay cable/satellite channel. Canal+ also has Elitserien and, nowadays, SM-Liiga :013: :076: (<- that's because I don't have Canal+ :002: ). There used to be some NHL games on regular tv a long time ago.
