I doubt there would be much hockey, if any, it wasn't for the large number of ex-pats from Europe and North America playing recreational "beer league" in places like Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, the U.A.E., etc. It seems like about 95 percent of the players in those countries aren't actually "natives."

What is the level of play in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Dubai & Qatar?

Are they all bad beer league? Good beer league? Are they all roughly equivalent in terms of talent, or does any one stand out over the others?

    Anyone have any idea?

    Marc,

what I know, this are all middle-good/bad beer leagues..... 90% or more are from Canada or the States. Few players from Finland, Sweden or locals.....

Age is between 17 and 50...... I do not think so, that a new Wayne Gretzky would be found in this countrie. But this is not the goal for this countries. "Let's have fun" - that's the message from this countries, and I do think they have fun.....

In all those Leagues, I found out, that there was one or two fights in the last five years.....canadian vs. canadian...... but, this was definitelly a excemption.

Qatar play of a Rink (I think...) 20x25 meters.... or so.....
    Cheers, Franco

Very interesting - thanks for posting it!

Seems the Malaysian league could be the beer league that gets the world's biggest beer-league crowds.

Actually the hockey is quite good and there is a lot of good hockey players. The talent varies but most teams are better than your average beer team. www.leaguelineup.com/twhl or www.flyingfarangs.com
