A new era in Kyrgyzstan hockey could begin from may!!

    http://forums.internationalhockey.ne...158#post197158

Very interesting news from Kazakhstan today:

according to Kyrgyzstan Hockey federation Ramiz Toktaliev, from next season a Kirghiz team will play in Kazakhstan league!

After the Asian Games, where Kyrgyzstan won bronze in lower division, passion for hockey exploded in the country - said Toktaliev - and our league passed from 6 to 8 teams registered (two weren't allowed in domestic league for lack of regular equipment). Teams have amateur status financing by private sponsorship, but this season every team have the obligation to register as legal entity. In May will begin the building of an indoor arena because at moment league is played at outdoor rink in Bishkek. But we need to learn to play hockey and our neighbours with a remarkable tradition in hockey are the best chance. so in May a new team will form with sponsorship of Canadian mining company acting in the country and coached by national team coach Sergei Shavernev. At the point we'll submit application to play in next Kazakhstan league.

Kazakhstan Federation CEO Yuri Zverev commented his collegue statement:
"If a club from Kyrgyzstan want to play in our league - it's welcomed!
There are no obstacles, we can't adjust if they are able to confirm the entry fee and a financial guarantee of the club. To play in our league teams have to be an annual budget of not less than $ 1,5 - $ 2 million"

Let's bring this thread up a bit..

    I just read this : http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/n...ash=488ebc218e

Kyrgystan seems really into developing this sport in their country, so I will follow this closely.. That's the kind of evolution I love to follow-up and that's a place I'd like to visit soon too...

Please, do so, there are a lot of people interested in Central Asian hockey around here. And that's a really nice looking arena.

    Thank you for joining here.

Are you involved with hockey federation or simply a fan?
There is no such thing as a "Bad Hockey Market"
There are, however, several markets with "Bad Hockey"

I am not sure that I can say that I'm a fan. But I was surprised that you've been discussing our hockey since 2006.
There was no user from my country in this forum and I just decided to translate and paste here news related to ice hockey in Kyrgyzstan.

Thank you, we appreciate the time.
Many of us here are of the opinion that hockey should be more than just a 'fringe' sport around the world, and hope for new countries taking up the sport to help with this. Also hope that many of the main problems plaguing other countries development of hockey within the local sports culture do not hinder those of new nations (ie, federation corruption, people with low opinion of the sport outside hockey preventing resources from reaching hockey fed etc).

    Kalys,

Is there a way for you to sum up a little bit what's going on with the kyrgyz tournament ?

Some teams are not listed anywhere, would it be possible to list each team and city they represent ?

For example, there's a jersey on a picture with some "republika" written on it.. which team is it ?

    Good to hear from you, looks as though the hosts are heading for overall victory. We also have this event in another thread ;
