If so, then where do players play when growing up?

In Iceland they use the term "Flokkur" for the different teams. Meistaraflokkur being the senior team.

    Example Meistaraflokkur:
    SR Reykjavik: http://www.skautafelag.is/ishokki/?webID=1&i=22&s=23
    Akureyri: http://www.sasport.is/?mod=leikmenn&deild=1
    Björnin: http://www.bjorninn.com/Forsida/Isho...rla/view.aspx?.

    2 flokkur I assume is J20, 3 flokkur J18 and so on but I'm not 100% sure.

    Example 2 flokkur:
    SR Reykjavik http://www.skautafelag.is/ishokki/?webID=1&i=22&s=24

At least many of the listed players in SR 2 flokkur are equal to listed players for team Iceland U20: http://www.ihi.is/?webID=1&i=75&s=77

Iceland is a small hockey nation so there are not many teams to choose. http://www.ihi.is/?webID=1&i=3

Since im not at all into the local leagues there I suggest you contact the teams via e-mail if you have questions.
    SR Reykjavik: hockey@skautafelag.is
    Akureyri: http://www.sasport.is/?mod=fyrirspurnir (nafn= name, netfang = e-mail)
    Skautafélagið Björninn: bjorninn@bjorninn.com

    Good luck! :)

@ Anna: does in Iceland exist a transfer market or players' moviments between teams aren't common and happens for special reason (ex. a player change town or a club offers him a work etc).

The same happens with foreigners players? Are they in Iceland for extra-hockey reasons?

One thing I'm sure of. You dont get fat, rich or even famous playing hockey in Iceland. :) Getting a decent daytime job offer or school/studies is propably main reason for an Icelandic player changing teams.

This year 2 players were in the Asian League - Jon Gislason and Daniel Eriksson. They are propably among the first "pro" players from Iceland. Other Icelandic players usually end up in Denmark and even some in Sweden lower leagues, but they also have daytime jobs or studies besides the hockey activities.

There are some foreign players in Iceland, Sergeij Zak being one. (http://www.bjorninn.com/Forsida/Isho...araflokkur1/53) Russian and If my memory serves me right also played in the Israeli national team. Sergeij has been involved in the Icelandic National teams as coach and assistant coach.

There are some more, but I dont know of them so much. McCormick (http://www.sasport.is/?mod=leikmenn&view=one&id=23) I know played for team Iceland 2004 IIHF WC Div III.

"extra-hockey reasons?" hehe.. I dont know. There are some pretty nice Icelandic girls around.. maybe they have fallen for the oldest reason in the world.. :p
