Unless Finland puts up a late rally ala Fin-Rus '97, then stick a fork in them they're done. Aside from a few early skirmishes in front of the net, all the shots are coming without screen and no second chances on any of them.

Kontiola scores for Finns at 51.10. 3-1 now. There's still little hope for Finns, even though Canadiens make some really strong defense.

    Congrats to Canada!

This was nowhere as bitter a loss as some others have been. No SO or OT loss this time, or a one goal loss in a tight game that could have gone either way. Canada was just better, even though Finland did have a good spell in the third. I am proud of this Finnish team, no one expected to see them in the final before or during the tourney.

Congratulations to team Canada! Great game, great result. Have to give credit to Finland having big heart and making the game more exciting till the end.

Rick Nash is the MVP of the championship, and Lehtonen is the best goalie.

Good to see that it got close again in the third. Canada was overall the clearly better team and Rick Nash is awesome. That guy is a freight train with soft hands. Fourth goal for Canada was just great.

    Best players of the game:
    CAN Rick Nash
    FIN Ville Koistinen

It was the second game (1st yesterday) in Lion shirt for Koistinen; absolutely a great appearance by him.

Shardik hit right to the essence; it was a good final, the best team won no question. Team Finland went all the way to the final, much further than most expected. Good and fair results for the tournee in overall.

    Cheers! :)

Congrats Canada! You were clearly the better team not only in this game but also in the whole tournament. This Finnish team wasn't supposed to medal at all and IMO this is a very good result for them.

Neither were Canada, Sweden, Slovakia, USA, Czech Republic...Why do we have to read this every year?

All Elite-7 teams are contenders for medals EVERY year. That's why they are called Elite-7, right?

Congrats to Canada with a well-deserved win. Canada dominated the game and didn't let Finland in until the last 10 minutes. Canada made the classic mistake, backing off too much, but Nash saved the day with an amazing goal. The best goal of the tournament, IMO.

    2007 IHWC

    Congrats to team Canada!!!
The whole Arena was for Canada until the 3-d period when everyone was waiting for a small intrigue, and it came... :)

P.S.: But if Finland would play the same hockey with Russia, we would see one of the most expected Finals!!! Sometimes Arena was screaming "Russia, Russia"... or "Shaybu, Kanada!"... Really fantastic feeling!!!

Expected at teh WJC, but not the IHWC hahahha

Unfortunately I was kayaking and missed the game on tv, but sounds like it was pretty exciting.
A note about Team Canada that was made during the semis: Chris Mason, once Nashville was eliminated from the NHL playoffs, didn't wait for a call but instead personally called Hockey Canada to volunteer his services, despite knowing that he probably wouldn't even dress for a game at the IHWC.. THAT is patriotism, folks!

I missed the game, as today is Mother's Day in the U.S.

I need to see that Nash goal!

I'm sure it will turn up on youtube.

By the way, Steigs, Canada is not expected to go undefeated in the Juniors.....the U.S. always provides stiff competition, and sometimes wins.

    OK, back to Canada's celebration......

    They are in Canada, Marc.

I'm not saying it makes sense, but ...well, there's a recent precedent to that end, isn't there. *chuckle*
Not just the US, Russia has a habit of stiff competition too.
