Nice photos thanks - the corners of the rink boards sure look rounded! I'm used to seeing a "more squared" corner. The puck must really fly when dumped in along the boards.

great photos, too bad you didnt catch more action. maribor home jerseys (black-orange) are much better than away one which are more orange. it hurts your eyes just watching it.
like medvescak used to have magenta helmets (t-com sponsors)

i got another thing to say, im i wrong or jesenice uses real farm roster on weaker games, while in stronger they dress few ebel players as well? i see svete, manfreda and others on scoresheet...
    kozorog? anyone?

same in zagreb , unless you play at velesajam small rink wheres on one of the sides is a bump (bend...whatever the word is) in the board and puck bounce. ive seen 2 empty net goals so far in this season, goalie went to stop the puck behind the goal. few meters before them puck bounced towards "open ice" to apponent who just needed to put it in open net. funny scenes.

that scenario happened to medvescak goalie juraj stopka who came from slovakia on trial. first game, kid did good, everything looked fine, until he went to stop the puck...conceded a goal, got nerveous and few minutes later even got injured. poor guy went back to banska bistrica straight after the game.

Yeah..I forgot to change the batteries. So i was able to do only 2,3 pictures and then i had tu turn off the camera for a while.

I agree about the jerseys. But if anything. HK Maribor should change their jerseys in the purple-yellow colours (just like the Maribor football team). They should connect with them. And the new team logo sucks too. They should stick with the old one (Fox).

I don't think it's connected to 'stronger' or 'weaker' game. The fourth line of the main team usually plays for the farm team as well, if they are not needed in the main team (etc. if there is no EBEL game that day or maybe previous/next day).

Although now after the roster deadline, Manfreda, Svete and Jakopič I think, had to be signed to the farm team for the remaining of the season, so they will play in the farm team for the playoffs as well. It had to be done so to get enough points back for the main team to sign foreigners.

I'm guessing the visiting team would always start the game on the side with the bump ?

Better to stick with old one but most important is to improve the game.

...yet they still counted the game as 11-0? Does it go into the record books as a forfeit at least? And will their be any punishment against the club for this?

Punishment for the club? Probably not. Even if they decide to punish the club. What can they do? The club is and will finished last in the standings.

The best punishment in my opinion would be to ban Alfa club officials for a season.

Alfa is really screwed up this year. They were much more promising last year, when Ted Sator was their coach, finishing fourth in national championship. This year, they are no where to be found and I doubt they will survive for much longer. Unfortunately, since it is/was ambitious project....

HS Olimpija decided not to travel to Jesenice for the game of final round, since "the players are tired of competing in juniors and EBEL league and the game doesn't mean anything anyway". Congratulations on the proffesionalism and seriousness...

The friendly game Acroni Jesenice : HD mladi Jesenice will be played instead.

HS Olimpija should be thrown out of the league, or, at the very least, barred from taking part in the playoffs.

kako su vam ga uvalili i sprdaju se s vama dok su u prednosti. 1-0 za zmaje

anyway, not a nice move by olimpija.
but hey, they are ebel semifinalist with a busy schedule, while jesenice have a spare time before the slovenian playoffs.

mark, throwing anybody from the league or playoffs wont solve a thing.
olimpija-jesenice rivarly (or we can call it as animosity) is huge and this is just one minor thing in whole story btw 2 slovenian clubs.

Jokke you don't get it right! We talk about HS Olimpija which is only competing in home league where also is your Medveščak which is by far better then HS Olimpija and has ofcourse nothing to do with EBEL.Well we saw some years ago how main Jesenice team was thrown out of the competition for such a reason.I would surely throw this team out of the league because they are too tired and not motivated to compete - let them time for some free skating or curling.Really arogant moves by some teams from the Capital again (few weeks ago ŠD Alfa team gone home after only 2 periods played).

acroni i know what you mean. hs or ebel olimpija, it dont change a thing.
olimpija cheap move imho is just arogancy and teasing "were ebel semifinalist and your out, so we dont have time to deal with you right now, we have far important things to do. see ya in the domestic playoffs"

and what if federation kicks hs olimpija out of playoffs, who would care? olimpija wouldnt.

hit their pocket. that hurts. fine them with 50.000 euros

Would really like to hear which players from HS Olimpija also play for EBEL team - the answer is none of them! Its just arogancy supported somehow by our hockey federation, too which has always favorized anything thats from capital city. And also they would need to play vs HD Jesenice youngsters not our first EBEL team - the result would be the very same I guess (+5 or more goals victory)

The regular season is over and the pairings for the quarterfinals of the play-off are known:

HK Acroni Jesenice - HK MK Bled

HDD ZM Olimpija - HS Toja Olimpija

HD mladi Jesenice - HK Triglav

HK Slavija - HDK Stavbar Maribor

Croatian team KHL Medveščak Mercator is not allowed in the play-off due to odd decision by Slovenian federation. Slovenian teams participate in Austrian play-off, Rumanian teams participate in Hungarian play-off, but Slovenian federation prefers to have ridiculous pairings such as EBEL team Jesenice vs U20 team of Bled, or EBEL Olimpija playing its farm team.

In two pairings that have some competitive value, I predict Jesenice farm team to eliminate Triglav, although I think Triglav has a chance to win a home match. In other pair, I see Maribor sweeping Slavija.

The quarterfinals is played in "best-of-three" system.

Such moves must be punished with big amount of money! This would be a solution for federation to get some authority which they never had and don't have!
But sadly teams from capital especialy Olimpija is favourised by national federation!

Did Acroni use its full EBEL roster against its farm team?

Yeah, more or less. Of course the game result wasn't any kind of a priority, they've probably just have some fun. It was a good thing, both for Acroni to not get out of match form and for mladi Jesenice to get a chance competing with the big boss.

I agree with Drax, not allowing Medveščak to play in playoffs was a bad decision and I wouldn't accept it, If I was running Medveščak. There isn't anything worse then traveling around and playing games without any motivation to win a trophy at the end.

About the playoffs, I also think it's too soon to include Jesenice and Olimpija so early in the playoffs. I'm not even sure, how will Olimpija play its quaterfinal game on 8th, if the could have the EBEL game both on 6th and 9th, and in worst case scenario, EBEL can go up to 27th of March.

Well if I would be a Slovenian hockey federation chairman I would imediately eliminate HS Olimpija from this year competition and include Medveščak in the QF game round. That would make a little discipline and also it would be more than fair to let Medvjedi a chance to compete
    - at least they show will to play, not like HS Olimpija that should rather play curling on home ice.

At the end of the regular season of Slovenian national championship, I want to give credit to people who run Slovenian hockey portal at http://www.slohokej.net/ who provided the timely and accurate information about the matches played in Slovenian championship that I used to keep this thread updated.

I agree, wholeheartedly, with you Drax. Not allowing Medvescak to play in the playoffs was not the right thing to do. I hope things chande in the next season.

Bear in mind that in slovenian championship, only six imports can be used (although we might expect this rule changing before the finals...). As far as Jesenice are concerned, Markus Matthiasson, who already signed a contract with Linz for next season, won't be part of Slovenian playoff team. It will be interesting to see, which imports Olimpija decide to scratch.

KHL Medveščak Mercator is not allowed in the play-off due to odd decision by Slovenian federation.
