No. Only the teams from Top 7 European leagues (Russian, Swedish, Finnish, Czech, Swiss, German and Slovakian) will participate in the opening season of the CHL.

Slovenian champion will join in the season 2009/10.

i know mate, i was just joking.
what happened? Medvescak didnt have any motivation in finals. mladost did and won their first championship after 1949 when they won yugoslavian championship
slovenian trio (misic, pirnat, peruzzi) was also crap like rest of the team. i would say that slovenian championship has a lot to do with it. they couldnt progress to playoffs and when they realised that jesenice will win it, they just let it go...didnt practice much and they paid the price.
also, mladost coach bruno bregant outsmarted jaka adlesic on the ice. when you calculate all facts - possible outcome was only one - Mladost champion

On one hand Medveščak is trying to get closer to EBEL, but on the other hand, they are ruining their chances day by day. What's the point in playing hockey, if you don't have any motivation to win the only trophy possible?

Check the rosters up the thread. Maribor got three players from the Slavija's first block before the transfer deadline in January. Before the season, some of the best Slavija's players left the team for Olimpija and Medveščak. Maribor also got some foreign players. In fact, it is surprise that Slavija got that far and had better season than true dissapointment of Slovenian championship, Triglav.

Yeah, this years Slavija is far from what they've managed to build in previous years. EBEL took their only two opponents, therefor they were forced to basicly sell the team and start from the scratch. Basicly, Slavija was the biggest victim from EBEL league.

Thanks, Coss. Interesting to see the huge difference in the scores despite Acroni using its full roster in both games.

Semifinals schedule (best-of-three): *-Acroni Jesenice already through to the finals

ZM Olimpija : Jesenice mladi 31.3.
Jesenice mladi : ZM Olimpija 2.4.

ZM Olimpija : Jesenice mladi 3.4. (if needed)

    Finals schedule (best-of-seven):
    Acroni Jesenice : ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi 4.4.
    Acroni Jesenice : ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi 5.4.
    ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi : Acroni Jesenice 8.4.
    ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi : Acroni Jesenice 9.4.

Acroni Jesenice : ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi 11.4. (if needed)
ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi : Acroni Jesenice 12.4. (if needed)
Acroni Jesenice : ZM Olimpija/Jesenice mladi 14.4. (if needed)

Jesenice mladi are keen to show everything they got against Olimpija, who will have to be very careful, especially since they are probably a bit 'empty' now, after their great EBEL season. I expect Olimpija to win series 2-0, but Jesenice mladi will show their talent and I think the result will be close, especially in game 1.

As far as finals are concerned, Acroni Jesenice are eagrly waiting for their opponent. Their motivation is on 110% already. The biggest disadvantage for them will be the lack of match form (meanwhile, today they will play a friendly game against Croatian national team) and enormous pressure from the fans and board - Jesenice simply have to win the finals, otherwise the season will be marked as a complete failure - not to mention, how much the loss against its fiercest rival hurt... I won't be predicting the finals result, simply because I'm too biased towards Jesenice - but I expect the series to end either in game 6 or game 7, with all games being quite close.

    Acroni Jesenice : Croatia 5:1 (0:0, 4:1, 1:0)
    1:0- Robar (Goličič, Hebar, 22), 2:0- Hebar (Goličič, 30 PP1), 2:1- Žibret (Švigir, 32), 3:1- Terlikar, 32, 4:1- Nedved (Healey, 36), 5:1- Bešlagič (Pretnar, Razingar, 49)

PIM: Acroni Jesenice 8, Croatia 20 +20 (Novak)

Jesenice played with Razingar and Elvis Beslagic, who had both already finished their seasons and are training in Jesenice for the world championships. Croatian coach Pavle Kavčič said he was aware that Jesenice could win with even bigger margin and warned against too high expectations for Croatia in Japan. He said he only wanted to stay in Division I.
Jesenice coach Doug Bradley said he wanted to use all four lines in preparation for championship finals, so he used Razingar and Beslagic as well - considering there were a lot of complaints about it (since they won't play in the finals)...

One wonders from what planet Kavčič landed on our planet. Noone ever spoke about anything else than struggle for unlikely survival in the Division 1. He should have better explained why was his team so late to arrive to Jesenice and how does Jesenice compare to Italian first team against which Croatia played 0:1 in late 2007. If Croatia with decimated roster could play so well against Italy, what exactly was he doing with the national team in last couple of weeks?

There has to be a better Slovenian coach than Kavčič.

Jesenice youngsters crush EBEL finalist in the 2nd game so we are close to a big surprise as series tied 1:1 and decision will be on 3rd game today afternoon. We have expected that Jesenice mladi will play like crazy and after close lose 4:3 in Ljubljana they win now on home ice with the same result - don't even try to ask me what will happen if Jesenice mladi will relegate Superior and rich team from Ljubljana. JE-SE-NI-CE!!!!!!
    JE !! SE !! NI !! CE

Well as I stated many times before, the motivation is the factor here. It caught many teams before and now it happend to Olimpija. Now they will have to play four games in four days - yesterdays and todays semifinals, then on friday and saturday the finals. I still believe they are much better individually, but Jesenice mladi have already proven, that individual skills are not useful, when you have a high team spirit. What brought Olimpija to the EBEL league finals, might caught them now to be eliminated from national championship finals. I firmly believe Olimpija will win today, but I hope Jesenice main team will take an advantage of the situation in Ljubljana and will show the same level of pasion as their youngsters do.
But on the other hand, Olimpija will play 100% better tomorow in the finals as well, if they make it through. So, in this series, it's not the teams strength that causes them a problem, but the level of motivation.

Stop spaming! There are 6,7 Slovenes on this forum and if you hasnt receive the info by now you probably wont receive it at all.

Jesenice youngsters proved they know hot to play competitive hockey. I just hope some of them will get a chance in EBEL next season. At least in 3rd or 4th lineup. Dont buy expensive foregin players when there are good youngsters waiting for a chance.

So, the super finals of Slovenian championships are here and Slovenian Hockey Fest is taking off! Probably the biggest team sporting event in the country will start no later than today at 19:00 in Jesenice. Home fans are fired up, home team players are encouraged after great performances from their second team in the semi-finals and everything is ready for the thrilling series to begin.

Both arenas should be sold out for all the games, especially if Jesenice will do well. There is no doubt Olimpija will find enough strength, despite todays opener will be their third game in the row and their season in EBEL was longer. On the other hand, Jesenice players haven't played a strong game in a few weeks now and the finals will also be the debut of Doug Bradley on the bench, after he replaced Kim Collins, who failed to reach the goal - semifinals - of league EBEL.

The schedule of the finals (best-of-seven):

April 4th, Jesenice: Acroni Jesenice - HDD ZM Olimpija
April 5th, Jesenice: Acroni Jesenice - HDD ZM Olimpija
April 8th, Ljubljana: HDD ZM Olimpija - Acroni Jesenice
April 9th, Ljubljana: HDD ZM Olimpija - Acroni Jesenice

April 11th, Jesenice: Acroni Jesenice - HDD ZM Olimpija
April 12th, Ljubljana: HDD ZM Olimpija - Acroni Jesenice
April 14th, Jesenice: Acroni Jesenice - HDD ZM Olimpija

It seems to me that Jesenice is a favourite here too. It's clear that most of Olimpija's foreigners are washed up, tired and empty after their loss in the finals. On the other hand, Jesenice, with a new coach, with a home ice advantage will give their maximum effort to save the season and pay back for the last season's title they undeservedly lost.

No we're not. But at least we're tough enough to admit that we fail at hilarity.
Though.... don't I at least get an "A" for effort?

Listen, seems he plays for mladi jesenice. Why don't you just try and contact the team, see where it takes you? Lots of people in Slovenia, the chances of someone knowing him personally are quite slim, and repeating teh question over and over actually falls against the board rules, if you re-read them you'll see what i mean... it's not like people here didn't try to give you advice.
