    ----------------------------

    Since i saw Dinamo Riga roster missing on roster page and Alessandro asked not to post there anything, i took a liberty under the same structure as other roster posts make Dinamo Riga one.

    If you think its good enaugh, feel free to put it under roster thread in Russia/KHL section.

    Besides Loko and Avangard everyone is comparable. If your goaltending holds up you can fight for the 3rd, granted Loko deals with the goaltending issues of their own and Yashin factor, otherwise second place could be up for grabs.

    Well, there's also Kazan, Ufa, SKA, CSKA etc.
    Our goal this season is to reach the play-off stage - top 16. It's a new team and league and everything will be new for us. That won't help. I think it's a realistic enough goal for the first season and for our budget. If Lada could do pretty well with relatively small budget last year we will too.
    Btw our budget it seems will be 6.5 million lats (14.7 million USD)

    I use this old thread for a qustion: could the Dinamo be considered just a re-birth of old team or is a completely new brand?
    I'm trying to assembly all old Dinamo names
    1946 Daugava
    from 1958 to 1959: RVZ
    1959 to 1960:Vagonostroitel
    from 1963 to 1991 and from 2008: Dinamo
    from 1991 to 1995 - HK Riga , Riga Stars, Pardaugava.

    I would like to know if I consider current Dinamo as successor of old team on a historical view or if that team ceased in 1995

    Here is my take on this but I'm not 100 % sure I got it right either. I consulted this book - Ainis Ulmanis, Melnās ripas bruņinieki: Latvijas hokeja vēsture. (Book about the history of Latvian hockey)

    1946 - 1948 Dinamo
    1948/49 -> Daugava
    1958/59 -> RVR (RVZ is probably russian translation as is Vagonostroitel)
    1961/62 -> Daugava (RVR still was the main sponsor)
    1967/68 -> Dinamo
    from 1991 to 1995 - HK Riga , Riga Stars, Pardaugava.
