    Hey Everyone.

We are going to try something different this year with respect to news about the different national teams, reactions etc than before.

Instead of having news about 16 separate teams lumped into 1 thread, the threads have been separated and inserted into each respective national forum here. Having everything lumped into one thread makes news about a particular nation more difficult to follow. Also, having 300+ post-long threads are cumbersome. Additionally, we would like to increase activity in the national forums as well.

From this, the main tournament thread: http://forums.internationalhockey.ne...ead.php?t=8045 you can see the links to each national team's thread where we can post news and information leading up to the tournament on April 24th. This tournament thread will then be used once the tournament actually begins.

Each nation's thread's opening post will have links back to the main tournament thread as well as other national team's threads.

    Hello guys,

one problem here. When i open a team topic, link redirect me to main IIHF forum site. So no rosters and team discussions.
Does anyone has the same problem, or is something wrong with my computer.....

    Tnx

I think, that the links are wrong. Should be for example:
    http://www.internationalhockey.net/f...ead.php?t=8046
    but is:
    http://forums.internationalhockey.ne...ead.php?t=8046
and this second is wrong, because forum adress was changed.
And I'm afraid that all links with an old forum adress are wrong.

    All Fixed.

As some of you may have noticed, the forum address
    forums.internationalhockey.net
    has been changed to
    http://www.internationalhockey.net/forums

This was necessary to get the RSS feed on the news site to work and the links from it to work on the board.

This of course will affect thread re-directs posted within posts...

Should be a competetive tournament. very young talent this year. No Viktor hedmen for Sweden also. I pick ether Canada USA Russia or the Czechs to come out on top. Im not that high on Sweden this year. It should end up like this.

    1st-Canada
    2nd-Russia
    3rd-USA
    4th-Czech Republic
    5th Sweden
    6th Finland
7th-Switzerland(Should put on a good show for the home town crowd)
The teams that win are the ones who have the biggest hearts

Sweden are to good to miss out a top four spot. Now way Sweden will go down in the QF:s. I think we will see the same top four as last year. It will be intressting to see if Russia can take a dubble.

I don't agree with Eric, I believe Sweden can count themselves lucky if they make it to the semi finals.

I don't think USA will play as well as it's necessary to advance to final four. In my opinion in semifinals will play surely Canada and Russia and two of three: Czech Republic, Sweden or Finland.

yeah of course its a matter of luck and who you face in the gf's and semis but no doubt there will be Russia, Canada and also im expecting finland and sweden to be there.

If I would put my money on any surprise it would be switzerland.

    Hello guys,

I'm new here, personnaly i think Finland may surprise everyone, they have a fast offensive team that can put pressure on any team,i put my bucks on Finland to win this thing! and Switzerland will most likely reach the semi this year in a front of our crowd

Main rival to the gold will as usual be Canada, Sweden have allways big, big trouble whit Canada. I think Sweden will handle Russia this year. Finland will allways be a strong team but most time its ends whit Sweden victory and Sweden owns Czech.Republic. USA and Slovakia are not strong enough to be contenders. Intressting to see if Switzerland can do a upset.

I have a strong feeling that Russia will win again this year. Canada have very good roster like every time and they will be strong. I don't like our roster this year, also inexperienced goalies... we will reach the gf's of course but the semis... i'm not sure.

surprises: maybe Slovakia and Switzerland, Norway will be decent and I think Hungary will play reasonably good but will be one team to relegate though

    So...

    1. Russia
    2. Czech Republic
    3. Canada
    4. USA
5-8. Slovakia, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland

France and Hungary will play Div 1 games next year

    1. Russia
    2. Canada
    3. Sweden
    4. USA
relageted in 4-finals: Slovakia, Finland, Switzerland and Czech republic

I´ve got the same feelings as welmu, yet Canada should make it to the finals. Sweden has strong team, as usual, but not like Russia or Canada. Than we have team USA and rest of the teams are those who´ll get to the 4-finals but will be probabably outmatched. Czech republic and Slovakia are without majority of their players from NHL, Switzerland will be pushed by it´s own crowd but no matter how I look on that, their players just don´t have the qualities to win over Canada, Russia, Swedem, USA or Finland. And Finland is just a tip.

That's a bit over positive. Chances are always there, like i say every year. Wait until the first round is over before ruling someone out, or counting someone in.

Maybe not gold but a top four spot are very realistic. Since 1979, The last 30 years Sweden have only faild to make the top four in 3 times. 1985, 1996 and 2000. So its very realistic to think Sweden will be in top four and if the team are in top four everything can happend.

Sweden is as usual underrated in this tournaments, people tend to look at the roster and "famous names" too much, but Sweden is like the most consistent team in the World and always find a way to play for medals. Even in 2007 when their roster was basically a roster of an eurotour team.
