    2 next german games:

    12.04.2009 Germany-Czech Republic Ingolstadt

That´s gonna be 2 very difficult games i think. Germany is the underdog of course.
ehh, if the Czechs play with such a line-up like they did in their two games over here in Slovakia, it might not be as hard as you may think, they did not show much of anything over here, though I´m guessing they´ll have more of their KHL guys joining next week.

EDIT: According to this http://www.hokej.cz/index.php?lng=CZ...lanek&id=43326 there will be Alexander Salák, Zdeněk Kutlák , Karel Rachůnek, Petr Čajánek, Jan Marek, Tomáš Rolinek, Jakub Klepiš and Jaroslav Hlinka joining the Czech training camp, but most of them won´t be playing against Germany, so your chances to win should be quiet big:)

    Alexnder Salak

Well how big possibility is there for Salak to get to Switzerland? Will he even be the nr. 1 goalie for team CZE, cause what i know about them, their goalie situation is horrible?

Here in tps he played very solid in the beginning of the playoffs. When he is on the top off his game he is good, but when he isnt he is horrible. He might play games where he takes almost everything and suddenly lets a few bad goals. He has a lot of upps and downs in the same season. He has improved a lot though since he first came here. He is under a goalie coach who has gotten Norrena, Kiprusoff and Niittymäki to NHL so I think for him it would be good to stay a couple of more years still here but there are rumors that say he might go to NA next season. So anyone who knows about the situation? WC would be a huge opportunty for him.

    Czech Republic CZE update

Its becoming ever more clear that the Czech team will be build around KHL's.

Idnes.cz reports that the following players are not available:

    * Tomas Kaberle (Toronto) - hand injury
    * Vaclav Prospal (Tamba) - wife expecting birth
    * Jaroslav Spacek (Buffalo) - groin
    * Pavel Kubina (Toronto) - family
    * Filip Kuba - health problems
    * Martin Straka - retired

Coach, Vladimir Ruzicka, still hopes to land Tomas Vokoun (FLA).

It's finally confirmed: Slavia Praha forward Jaroslav Bednar will not join Czech team for upcoming IHWC.
He suffered an injury during playoffs final series vs Karlovy Vary.

Bednar commented: "I'm sorry, but I played the whole series against Karlovy Vary with painkiller injections and now I have to rest"

Marek Zidlicky (Minnesota Wild) will be the only NHL defender to play for Czech.
After Kaberle and Kubina's defection, also Martin Skoula,Radek Martinek and Lukas Krajicek declined invite

    Shame about Hejduk.

Will Michalek be joining the Cezch team should San Jose crash out of the playoffs ?

Or are all the roster spots fixated ?

Best of luck to the Czech team. Hope Jagr has a 'last' great hurrah.

Hejduk wasn't invited to play in Switzerland, krystof.herold wrote he wasn't nominated by the coach.
And I don't think Michalek will join, firstly nobody expeted San Jose, the best team of regular season, won't advance to conference semi-finals, and secondly, Davide wrote Marek Zidlicky will be only NHL defender playing for Czech Republic in IHWC 2009.
And last thing, I expect Jagr will play for National Team in Vancouver: )

Unluckily Jágr has a bad virus and even had to go to the hospital with it. Hopefully he'll be healthy for the first game.

In other news, Židlický has been named captain and Jágr and Čajánek will assistant captains for the WC

The coach will contact defender Roman Polák from ST. Louis. He wants him to play.

Last time I remember Jagr with "C" played in Salt Lake City. Did he play later as a captain in National Team?

    Hokej.cz :
Tomas Plekanec and Roman Hamrlik from Montreal Canadiens probably will play in Switzerland and Jagr too, he feel better, and probably will be ready to play against Denmark
But there'e one more bad news: Angel Krstev will not play, because he has broken ribs.

Jaromir Jagr wants to play on Saturday if he will feel like he feels now, as he said. And he doesn't want to be captain, because he likes fun, he said :), and being captain is not funny but responsible.
If Tomas Plekanec and Roman Hamrlik will join our team will be very strong. Watch out! :)

The Czech offence looks like an unit to be bewared, but unfortunately the D and goaltending seem to leave several things to be desired for.

And what do they say about stuff that wins you championships...

I think our goaltenders are real talents. Štěpánek and Mensator were really good in our Play-offs. (94.35% and 94.03%) And both played against Slavia Praha, which has really great attack. You will see.

Jakub Štěpánek will be number one on Saturday against Denmark.

It's true that czech defense is not the best on paper but people picking slovakia, sweden, finland or even switzerland ahead them just because czech defense or goalies are unknown.. what so special with defense of those teams i mentioned. But we will see...

I kind of wonder why there was no trust in the team for GK Alexander Salak. He was stellar behind the rather lousy team of TPS Turku in SM-liiga this year.

In SM-liiga playoffs he went with .951 with 1.96 GAA and was the sole reason why TPS took the series against JYP, the team that was to become the champion, into 7th game in the quarterfinals.

Definitely a "hot" goalie, yet they opted to leave him out.

Milan Michalek from Sharks will join the team tomorrow in the evening. Last player in the roster will be DF Zdenek Kutlak from HC Ambri-Piotta or FW Patrick Elias from Devils.
