Šatan, Demitra, Gáborík, Zedník and Halák are still in "play-off danger". Nobody declined invitation for the moment, but it is still questionable if they really join team. I think, Gaborik has no contract for next season, so it could be problem.

I remembe rthat in an interview earlier in the season Gaborik said that if healthy, he´d come, but who knows with him.......but according to an interview with the NT coach in today´s Šport, Palffy is 50:50, so i guess this the time for Jozko Stumpel to do his job and persuade him:)

can't find Richard Lintner on the roster.
from what i've seen (around 20 games in KHL in which he took part) , he's a good defender with impressive shot and offensive skills.

according to what he said the season ended early for him, so he thought he wasn´t in the condition to do so....to be honest, I don´t think that it is a huge loss, he didn´t really look in place in the two games he played for the NT in february, though still ways better than Stehlik...

Marek Svatos (COL) has declined Filc's invitation to participate in the Worlds. Reason: Family

    his wife is pregnant.
Peter Budaj said no, too, so it seems that Rasťo Staňa is going to be our number one goalie this year.
I really hope that my favourite defender - Dominik Graňák - will go this year, too

yeah, I just found out, that really sucks

and about the goalies, well everything depends on Montreal, if they wouldn´t make the play-offs, Halak would probably get the No.1 job. And although it looks like they will make it , there´s a big probability that they won´t go past round 1, so Halak could join the team then. Also they´re most probably playing against the Bruins, so if they could somehow win the series, Chara would be available

    there's a lot of "maybe"...
one of my schoolmates use to say that the year 2009 is the year of Slovak sport (U20 at championship, handball, we beat Czech in football and also two victories in hockey against them) and he believes we'll get some medal from Switzerland
I don't think so, but if this will come true, I am going to jump up and down

so, it will be Bruins-Habs he first round,so either Chara or Halak could join the team for the next stage, my money is on Halak.

Handzus, Sekera and Valabik are confirmed and they´re working on Zednik´s insurance righ now, so he should be confirmed as well. And as off now, Minnesota did not make he play.offs, so we´ll see how the situation around Gabby will pan out. Jan Filc seems to be rather positive about it: "I hope that we will find out more about he situation of Minnesota soon, because it looks like we could count with Olvecky along with Gaborik." Though it´s kinda hard to explain his words about Gabby and I guess we´ll have to wait a bit longer to find out. Also, Olvecky has a two-way contract, so he might have to go to Houston.

Meanwhile, after yesterday´s game Tomas Bulik, Juraj Valach and Richard Stehlik were sent home and they´re going to be replaced by Juraj Mikus,Dominik Granak and Kristian Kudroc on Tuesday. Also Huna and Gron from Kosice are expected to join later on after they´re finished with the celebration, I guess that will be Tatar´s turn to go.

On other note, congrats to Jan Lasak on his 30th´sbirthday and to Trenicn and Martin fans for their gesture to him after the game against Norway.

    Hi All,

I am just giving you some update on the current Slovak World Cup Squad.
They are back on their ‘’mission’’ after Easter on Tuesday 14th April.

Filc made some changes after Norway’s game and more changes will come, but I will keep you updated.
So here you go for now:

    Goalkeepers:
    Rastislav Staňa (Severstaľ Čerepovec /KHL)
    Ján Lašák (Moeller Pardubice/ČR)
Imrich Petrík (HC 05 Banská Bystrica/SVK)

    Defenders:
    Ivan Baranka (Spartak Moskva/KHL)
    Jaroslav Obšut (Lulea HF/SWE.)
    Tomáš Starosta (Neftechimik Nižnekamsk/KHL)
    Ivan Švarný (HC Litvínov/ČR)
    René Vydarený (HC České Budějovice/ČR)
    Dominik Graňák (Färjestads BK/SWE.)
    Kristián Kudroč (Södertälje SK/SWE)
    Peter Smrek (HC Lassersberger Plzeň/ČR)
    Boris Valábik (Atlanta Trashers, NHL)
    Andrej Sekera (Buffalo Sabres, NHL)

    Forwards:
Milan Bartovič (HC Bílí Tigři Liberec/ČR)
    Marcel Hossa (Dinamo Riga/KHL.)
    Ladislav Nagy (Severstaľ Čerepovec/KHL)
    Rastislav Pavlikovský (Sibir Novosibirsk/KHL)
    Branko Radivojevič (Spartak Moskva/KHL)
    Štefan Ružička (Spartak Moskva/KHL.)
    Juraj Štefanka (HC Vítkovice Steel/KHL)
    Tomáš Tatar (HKM Zvolen/SVK)
    Roman Kukumberg (HC Slovan Bratislava/SVK)
    Ľubomír Bartečko (Lulea HF/SWE.)
    Tomáš Surový (Linköping HC/SWE.)
    Juraj Mikúš (HK 36 Skalica/SVK)
    Michal Handzuš (LA Kings, NHL)
    Richard Zednik (Florida Panthers,NHL)

I am not sure about the status of Roman Kukumberg , because he injured his arm in match against Norway but he is still with team. Probably for the lack of centers they still keep him in team. Personally, i am very disappointed that Jozef Stumpel wont play due to his injury and as well as rest of the country I was expecting to Ziggy Pallfy will change his mind and will represent his country again. He was amazing this season in Slovak League, just look at the stats. He set up a new record in the league when he scored 64 goals and had 62 assists and had unbelievable + 100 in plus/minus rating.

These players will join the team in this week:

    Stanislav Gron (HC Košice)
    Rudolf Huna (HC Košice)
František Skladaný (HC Energie Karlove Vary/ČR)

They all won their league title and after a days of celebration should join the team.

These two players might join in forthcoming week:

    Marian Gaborik (Minnesota Wild, NHL)
    Peter Olvecky (Minnesota Wild, NHL)

If Gaborik will join it would be great boost for our guys. Hopefully we will hear a positive news from him. Peter Olvecky was playing very well last couples of games for Wild and hopefully Wild will not send him back to their AHL team.

These players are playing in NHL Playoff and should join the team for world cup if their team will be knocked out:
    Miroslav Satan (Pittsburgh Penguins,NHL)
Marian Hossa (Detroit Red Wings, NHL)
Tomas Kopecky (Detroit Red Wings, NHL)
    Zdeno Chara (Boston Bruins, NHL)
    Jaroslav Halak (Montreal Canadiens, NHL)
    Milan Jurcina (Washington Capitals, NHL)
    Pavel Demitra (Vancouver Canucks, NHL)

All players unofficially confirmed their interest to play in the world cup which is obvious great work of our team management, especially Peter Bondra.
We can expect either Halak or Chara after first round of NHL playoff.

Well, I think this year it looks better for Slovak team. And YOU?
    Let me know your thoughts.
Ice Hockey is life and nothing else matters.

Good news. Gaborik, despite signed no contract for next season, want to go on WC. Now, he is only waiting for medical approval

it is not confirmed yet. according to minneapolis star tribune, he likely will not play in Switzerland.
hope is not true, Slovakia will need a ''star'' while Hossa, Chara, Demitra are still in playoff.

If you´re referring to what they quoted in Pravda in this article http://hokej.pravda.sk/desat-dni-pre..._sk_hrepre_p28, that all is just speculation by Minneapolis Star Tribune, what they think that he would/shoud do. Accordin to SME he has confirmed interest to play to both Peter Bondra and Ján Filc. There is no use to pondering about this now, we should just wait, we might know more by this time tomorrow since Gabby is sheduled through the health test in Colorado today.

Richard Zednik has declined the invitation due to an undisclosed personal reason, it´s kind of weird, just a few days ago the team´s managment was caliming that they were only working on an insurance for him and the quotes today sounded really mysterious

that's strange, i didn't see this coming because like you have said they were working just on his insurance.
we should hear back from Marian Gaborik tonight or tomorrow.
hopefully he will dress slovak jersey on this world championship, but I would have to think that Marian Gaborik will make a business decision here and decline Slovakia’s invite. He’s got a huge summer ahead of him and I can’t imagine he’d risk getting hurt.

    Latvia trip

Here is the team traveling to Latvia for two preparation games:
    Goalkeepers:
    Rastislav Staňa (Severstaľ Čerepovec /KHL)
    Ján Lašák (Moeller Pardubice/ČR)
Imrich Petrík (HC 05 Banská Bystrica/SVK)

    Defenders:

    Ivan Baranka (Spartak Moskva/KHL)
    Jaroslav Obšut (Lulea HF/SWE.)
    Tomáš Starosta (Neftechimik Nižnekamsk/KHL)
    Ivan Švarný (HC Litvínov/ČR)
    René Vydarený (HC České Budějovice/ČR)
    Dominik Graňák (Färjestad BK/SWE.)
    Kristián Kudroč (Södertälje SK/SWE)
    Peter Smrek (HC Lassersberger Plzeň/ČR)

    Forwards:
Milan Bartovič (HC Bílí Tigři Liberec/ČR)
    Marcel Hossa (Dinamo Riga/KHL.)
    Ladislav Nagy (Severstaľ Čerepovec/KHL)
    Rastislav Pavlikovský (Sibir Novosibirsk/KHL)
    Branko Radivojevič (Spartak Moskva/KHL)
    Štefan Ružička (Spartak Moskva/KHL.)
    Juraj Štefanka (HC Vítkovice Steel/KHL)
    Tomáš Tatar (HKM Zvolen/SVK)
    Roman Kukumberg (HC Slovan Bratislava/SVK)
    Ľubomír Bartečko (Lulea HF/SWE.)
    Tomáš Surový (Linköping HC/SWE.)
    Juraj Mikúš (HK 36 Skalica/SVK)
    Michal Macho (MHC Martin, SVK)

They are still 3NHl player's who should join the team after Latvia's trip.
    Boris Valábik (Atlanta Trashers, NHL)
    Andrej Sekera (Buffalo Sabres, NHL)
    Michal Handzuš (LA Kings, NHL)

And i am not sure about the status for these 3 players because they supposed to join the team. but i can not see that Filc will take them to Switzerland without any preparation game:

    Stanislav Gron (HC Košice)
    Rudolf Huna (HC Košice)
František Skladaný (HC Energie Karlove Vary/ČR)

I guess no surprise there, I´m just eager to know for how long will the team managment keep on playing with us fans, still giving us some hope that there is a chance.....in a way it is quiet hilarious

One of the biggest bullshits I ever heared. So when he plyed for Wilds in regular season, his knee was all right. But when the season ends, we´ll discover that he´s still injured. They don´t even care to make more believable excuse these days...

I´m really sorry for Stefan, it looke dlike he wanted to play in Switzerland a lot. And just like that, our team has no scorer.....hopefully we´ll somehow at least make the querterfinals.

i am sorry for Stefan. he was best player in preparation games. we will miss his speed and goalscoring skills.

i am wondering, who is going to replace him. Bicek, Skladany, Gron?

I can't believe it. First Budaj, then Svatos, then Palffy, then Zednik, then Gaborik, then Gaborik. Then then then... I really can't believe how that is possible...

Just to make it clear. Stanley Cup finals are before 4-finals or after?

This situation sucks big time, but still. This team is capable of moving from this group on 2nd place and than win over Denmark or Norway, so we are able to make 4-finals without some major problems. And if we´ll have Hossa, Chara, Halak et cetera in 4-finals we still can make it but...

world championship quarter-finals are scheduled on 6th and 7th May it will be hardly after second round of NHL playoffs. so i dont think that any of the players above will come at least they teams will be knock out in first round. but i presume detroit and boston will make it to conference finals.

Yes, it's very annoying. I expected Solovakia will be very strong on this IHWC, and now I still believe Slovakia will play nice and successfully. And, in my opinion, all of them who declined to play on IHWC would to play on Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver...

Peter Olvecky (Houston Aeros, AHL) should be joining team Slovakia despite the fact that his team is still continuing in the playoffs.

Well, Jan Filc should be telling the nomination to the players today after dinner, so my guess is today or tomorrow. But there will still be open spots because of some injuries.

It's great news but I'm little disappointed decision of Slovak stars: Palffy, Stumpel, Gaborik, Zednik, Budaj, Svatos... What a pity they will not play in Switzerland...
