Local media and known Rangers bloggers are speculating that Jensen will be given a real opportunity to make the NHL roster out of training camp this year.

Hopefully he takes advantage of it and the first step was re-signing with the Rangers

Will be interesting to see if he makes the main camp/is offered a contract, but Medvescak has confirmed that Bjorkstrand will be returning if he's not signed by a NHL team.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see one or two more in DEL before the season starts.

Good (expected) news for Nicklas Jensen, and very good news for the Danish national team.

I don't know why it has been so difficult for him to be successful in North America (in the NHL that is). When he was drafted I thought he was a sure bet, but it seems like he wasn't quite ready mentally the first couple of years after his draft.

    Same here.

In his draft year (from what I remember) there were concerns regarding his consistency/compete level so that might also explain things, at least to an extent. You also don’t get that many chances to make an impact in the NHL so it's important to take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves.

But with that being said, he showed at the 2016 IHWC what he can do offensively and this season Jensen finished 2nd in regular season goal scoring in the AHL, thus the change of scenery from the Vancouver to the NY Rangers organization seems to have been very beneficial for him and he’s still young enough to give the NHL another chance if he wants to at some point.

So the move to Jokerit, which as you say is a smart decision by Jensen might give him another boost and team Denmark’s coaching staff won’t be complaining either
