U15 Central Slovakia training camp (November 20th-22ndin Dolny Kubin)

After Eastern Slovakia, the second training camp will take place in Central Slovakia. Unlike in the East, there are no players from foreign leagues. I have to wonder whether this is because there are more clubs in this region or because there are not that many player abrad yet.

U16/U17/U18 NTs during November NT break

Slovakia u18: The u18 finished second in their tournament. A big disappointment came in tje first game when they blew a 4 goal lead. 2001 born Maxim Cajkovic led the tourney in scoring with 7 points in 3 games.

    Germany U18 - Slovakia U18 5-4 SO (0-2,4-2,0-0)
    SOG: N/A-N/A PIM: 8-8 Att: 89

    Denmark - Slovakia 2:4 (0:1, 2:1, 0:2)
Schulze (Bertelsen), Berlin (Cubars, Bredvig) -Fric, Nespala (Cajkovic), Okuliar (Cajkovic, Nespala), Cajkovic (Okuliar, Nespala)

    Slovakia - Belarus 4:3 (1:1, 2:2, 1:0)
Bucko (Cajkovic, Okuliar), Vrbka (Mrazik, Hudec), Bucko (Okuliar), Okuliar (Nespala, Cajkovic) - Krylovich (Siarhyenia), Mesilevich (Stsiapanau), Masilevich (Pyskhaila, Stsiapanau)

Slovakia u17: The u17 team won their tournament on home turf, only giving up a point to the older French in the first game. Forward Alex Kupka led the tournament in scoring while Simon Jellus who has better stats in Swedish u18 league only got one goal in the opener.

    Slovakia - France 3-2 OT (0:1,1:1,1:0 - 1:0)
Golian (Kupka, Mudrak), Jellus (Duris), Duris - Fabre (Chautant), Fabre (Chautant, Andraud)

    Slovakia - Switzerland 3:1 (0:0, 2:1, 1:0)
Kupka, Skultety (Kupka, Mudrak), Kupka (Kormuth, Skultety) - Schwenninger

    6. Kormúth (M. Hlaváč), 25. Jevoš (A. Valigura), 31. J. Haščák (M. Hlaváč), 42. Mudrák (Golian, Kupka), 60. Kormúth - 2. L. Reichel (Schumacher), 21. Kinder (Alberg)

Slovakia u16: There isn't much to say here as the u16 didn't manage to score a single goal against their peers from Russia nor the u17 teams from Latvia and Belarus. Actually in their 6 games this season so far they only managed to score 3 goals back in August against Russia, but they also were on the receiving end of 23 Russian goals in the 3 August which means that their GF:GA ratio so far is 3:39.

    Slovakia – Russia 0:8 (0:2, 0:4, 0:2)
Goals: 4. Ponomariov, 17. Konstantinov (Steklov), 24. Zlodejev (Didkovskij), 29. Ťutnev (Ryčkov), 39. Šujdin (Kuzmin, Konstantinov), 40. Ryčkov (Chusnutdinov), 54. Ponomariov, 55. Ryčkov (Chusnutdinov).

    Latvia - Slovakia 4:0

    U20 NT tournament in November

The u20 NT went to the tournament in Switzerland with a goal of winning all games, so the results are disappointing. If Slovakia hopes to achieve something at the Worlds, Durny should not be the starter. David Hrenak hasn't played much in the NCAA but has very good numbers. 1999 born Juraj Ovecka has great numbers in the NAHL. On deffense Martin Bodak and Michal Ivan should strenghten the D-core. On Offense Adam Ruzicka, Milos Roman and Marian Studenic should be locks. Samuel Bucke and Jakub Lacka and Marek Valach are on PPG level in USHL. Patrik Hrehorcak and Adam Liska are very questionable as their stats aren't that great in the CHL. In Europe 1999 born forwards Jozef Balaz and Filip Krivosik who already got a taste of the top leagues in Czech republic and Finland respectively were not invited to this tourney, so it's questinable whether they will get an invite for pre-WJC camp.

    Norway - Slovakia 1:3 (0:0, 0:1, 0:2)
Karlsen - Cacho (Vasas, Vybiral), Vasas (Vybiral), Vasas (Vybiral, Cacho)

    Slovakia - Switzerland 3:4 (0:2, 2:2, 1:0)

Smolka (Dlpaka), Vybiral, Smolka - Tiva, Simic, Berni (Leuenberger), Maillard

    Slovakia - Germany 6:3 (1:2, 2:1, 3:0)

Bokk (Adam, Jahnke), Postel, Glaser (Hessler, Jahnke), Eder (Seider, Strodel), Zitterbart (Onti, Reiter), Hessler - Fehervary (Cacho), Tamasi, Galbavy (Fehervary)

Although the NHL site is still showing the old list from October, there is a new mid-November 2018 NHL draft CSS list. 4 Slovaks playing in North America were ranked on the list:

    B ROMAN MILOS VANCOUVER WHL 5′ 11.75″ 188 C L
    C IVAN MICHAL ACADIE-BATHURST QMJHL 6′ 0.75″ 180 D L
    C LISKA ADAM KITCHENER OHL 5′ 10.25″ 184 C L
C Martin Pospisil Sioux City Musketeers St. Lawrence University

Milos Roman went up from a C ranking to a B ranking, while Martin Pospisil went down from B ranked to C ranked (I'm surprised to see him ranked at all given his stats). Michal Ivan stayed at a C ranking, while Adam Liska was previously unranked.

I haven't found a Euro list yet, so not sure of the changes there.

The two 1995 born forwards Martin Reway and Peter Cehlarik are no longer in the AHL as Reway has returned to Europe and Cehlarik is up with the big team (although currently out with an injury). Marek Hrivik leads all Slovak AHLers in scoring and it doesn't seem like he is giving up on his NHL dream. Tomas Jurco's stats in the last month are very disappointing. Martin Marincin on the other hand is doing very well statswise, but he is too staying down in the AHL for now. Christian Jaros might not appear on the score sheet often, but he is one of the few players who is a + on his team, the same also goes for Erik Cernak.

In the ECHL, Kristian Pospisil didn't play much last month due to an injury, but he picked up a couple of assists after he came back. Radovan Bondra has scored his first goal, but he still seems to struggle tremendously at men's level.

    JUNIOR LEAGUES

    CHL

In the CHL, OHL is the most inetesrting league to look at. Although Adam Ruzicka has cooled down a bit lately, Marian Studenic seems to be in top shape. Adam Liska isn't extremaly successful on the score sheet, but he isn't playing any special units minutes.

In the WHL, Milos Roman is doing very well as he leads all rookies in scoring despite having a slower start to the season. Milos Fafrak has finally scored his first two goals last month but is still not doing up to the expactations. No improvements for Martin Fasko-Rudas.

In the QMJHL, Patrik Hrehorcak is also on a cold streak as he hasn't scored a single goals since the last update. On the other hand, Michal Ivan has adjusted really well to the QMJHL even though he joined the team pretty late in the season. I suppose it shows that he has played a lot against men back home.

    AMERICAN JUNIORS

    USHL

In the USHL, a trio of 1998 born forwards is doing pretty well. However only Samuel Bucek seems to have received and invite to Slovakia's pre-WJC camp, while Marek Valach and Jakub Lacka stay without one. Martin Pospisil still seems to be collecting mainly penalty minutes.

    GOALIES

Among goalies, Adam Huska has improved his stats lately. David Hrenak continues to have great numbers, albeit he has played only a few games. Matej Tomek still isn't fulfilling expectations. Juraj Ovecka has very good numbers in the NAHL and the reason why he played so few games is because he had to take some time off in order to finish high school back in Slovakia so that he could go on to university as the goal is NCAA.
