    Iran Hockey...

I'm just wondering if there is any hockey scene in Iran? Its pretty unusual considering all its neighbors have threads devoted to their respective hockey scenes but none for Iran. Anyone enlighten me on that? Thanks.

A bit strange considering that Iran gets much colder than MOST countries in the Middle East in the winter time... :(

But oh well... I just hope there are more people who are familiar with the Iran scene that will post here in the future...

Can't see a North American sport having much appeal given the cultural and political position in Iran. Hockey often starts in new countries amongst the Canadian expat community. Don't know if there is one in Tehran.

Iran opened first ice rink last December:

    Interesting this quote:
Women and men practice in separate shifts, as the Islamic Sharia law is interpreted to prohibit couples to perform together on the rink. Tehran had several ice rinks, but they were all abolished following the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
