    Zlata Kniha Hokeje

I just recently purchased Zlata Kniha Hokeje. This book was written in 1978.

In the back of the book it gives a list of everyone who at the time had scored over 100 goals in the Czech hockey league.2 names were missing which surprised me.
Vaclav Nedomansky and Richard Farda.Does anyone know if this was just a mistake or did Czechoslovakia wipe out all records of players who defected at this time period.

I it was a mistake?, in other books that have been...

Historical result scorers - Czechoslovakia hockey league (not Czech league)
    5.place Vaclav Nedomansky (Slovan Bratislava 1962-74) 12 season - 368 goals, 419 matches
    103.place Richard Farda (ZJS Brno 1962-63, Dukla Jihlava 1963-65, ZKL Brno,1965-74) 12 season - 179 goals, 408 matches

Their (and many other names) names were wiped from records during communism. The most grotesque situation was Canada cup '84, game between Canada and CSSR. Number 26 Peter Stastny didnt exist for czechs TV reporters. They mentioned his name only once - when he scored goal and his name was displayed.

    Dr. Pablo Ramirez,

Thank you so much for your reply and answering my question. It just seemed strange that the 2 names that I noticed missing were players that had defected.

I found answer for you right by Nedomansky: link
    His last sentence is:
"Třeba Zlatou knihu hokeje můžete dnes hodit do odpadků, je to výsměch, spousta věcí v ní není.“
You can throw "Golden book of hockey" in garbage, it is mockery, a lot of things are not there.

Another interesting thing about Nedomansky: He defected during summer 1974. Notice in newspaper "Pravda" few months later : Vaclav Nedomansky died during car accident in Canada.

I spoke with VM before 89.
It was no bit of his thinking how much goals he scored in Czech leagues in Canada (WHA and NHL). It was no matter which was be part of his thinking about his life.

    czech hockey yearbooks

I have recently purchased a couple of Czech hockey yearbooks from 1978 amd 1979.Karel Gut was one of the authors.

I am looking for and wondering if they had these in any other years like 1970-1977
    and 1980.

If so and anyone has them and would like to share some players stats I would sure appreciate. The stats are pretty much all I can understand and have interest in.

Yes, there are czechs and slovaks yearbooks, authors Vlado Malec, Vladimir Dzurilla (famous goalkeeper as co-author of the books about WCH in 1965 and 1966), Ferdinand Kralovic from 60, 70 and 80-ties.
For example, here are photos from http://www.marken.cz/hokej.asp?kat=12

    Dr. Pablo Ramirez,

I do have Hokej 78 by Vlado Malec. It only has information about the world championships and I am looking for player statistics from the Czechoslovakia hockey league.

Marken is where I have ordered all my books from.I will have to check and see about books by Ferdinand Kralovic.

    Thank you for your reply.

Slovak transcription of his name: Ferdinand Královič. And this yearbook is also from Kralovic, not Kralovec - http://www.marken.cz/zaznam.asp?ID=558
These books called "Hokejová ročenka" or "Ročenka HOKEJ" have full rosters and statistics from czechoslovakian league (1st tier), then results and rosters of slovakian national league and czech national league (2nd tier) and finally some results and tables of both second national leagues (3rd tier).
I don't know if you are looking specially only for yearbooks from 70-ties, I have only from 80-ties. Here are some scans:
    Ferdinand Kralovic - Hokej'80:

    Hi Jeff,

I am an admin on eliteprospects.com I added some famous czech players there. As for Farda and Nedomansky, they emigrated together from Czechoslovakia and communists wiped their names from "historic" hockey books. However I found and added their profiles and stats on eliteprospects (They were both playin for Toronto Toros). Here: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=78379 and here: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=42854 If you d like rosters and stats from HC Plzen (Skoda Plzen) buy this book: http://www.marken.cz/zaznam.asp?ID=153

    Fingon,

    Thanks for the reply.

I have been on your site many times and I have also purchased many books from Marken and hope to purchase more.

I may purchase the book HC Plzen (Skoda Plzen).

My main interest at this time is trying to finish up my Czech stats for the 70's.
