    Images in Signatures

One of the possible candidates for bringing the forum down over the past few months is the increase in members with images in their signatures. As a precautionary measure, we have disabled the ability to do this so that we can monitor the effect it has on our server. If it appears to not be an issue, we will re-instate the ability at some point in the future.

Graham, and what about flags? Are they available or not?

    Piotrek,

What flags are you referring to? Ultimately, the only thing that I've changed is that you can't have an image of any description in the signature. Images anywhere else should be OK.

Hm...but, I don't see flags in posts, don't see images like IHF Member, moderator, etc...

First I thought that it is up to me/my computer, but then I tried on my laptop and still the same...

Not sure what has happened to those. They don't seem to have survived our migration to the new server. Let me have another look this evening.

Ok. I'm waiting. BTW, the same about maps on our previous servers - all missed.

Everything should be back to normal. Let me know if you find anything wrong.

Back in the 2nd half of March I probing the host for the reasons for the sudden increase in CPU usage but I never received any help. They just asked me to keep the usage under control which was impossible as a) I didn't know the reasons for the increased CPU usage and b) the cpanel didn't have any features for monitoring the CPU usage.

I spend days looking for answers and were about to look for another host when I was involved in a severe traffic accident that put me in hospital for weeks. During that period and a time that followed I didn't have internet access so I was unaware that the site had been permanently suspended.

So sadly, I was not in a position to communicate with you.

Something weird has definitely happened. Among other things, I can no longer gain access to my main account (the site could very well have been hacked). P.S. Graham I have send you a couple of mails about this. Please check them.

During my investigation, I also found out that other sites are hotlinking to some of IHF's images (in particular flags). One of these sites is a porn site (actually several porn sites) that could potentially have a lot of traffic thus pulling a lot of CPU usage. In the cpanel there is a option to prevent hotlinking to images etc. Be sure to use this.

Another candidate is bad script elements in the news site (mails from the host indicate this). But since the news site has been running since October I am just wondering why the problems only arose 1/2 year later so this doesn't make sense.
